This movie is an absolutely horrible anime, but definitely deserves a 4 star for the top-quality sequel, Train to Busan(Live action film).
This is mostly going to be a mini breakdown of both this movie and its sequel, and what sets this hot garbage apart from Train to Busan.
Story(1/10) - First of all, just want to clarify that personally, although Train to Busan is a live-action film, it's way more melodramatic than this animated movie. It works for a zombie movie, it's nothing exceptional, it's just your typical survivors surviving in a zombie apocalypse, but that's not all. The story is overall pretty inconsistent, it would
...
rather talk about morals and messages than actually tell a decent story, the pacing is off for certain scenes, and hence the characters will only do specific actions because the movie needs it to. Not to mention the absolute muck of an ending this has, it could've been a 2 if the plot twist didn't exist, completely breaking the characters and the ending of this movie. The reason why this is so high in the rating is that it's nowhere close to the absolute mess numerous (Both live-action and animated) zombie movies attempts to try.
I also didn't mention how every selfless act was for the worse, instead of inspiring people to be selfless and rely on each other, what you get is an action thriller that suggests you to rely solely on yourself.
Art(0/10) - What more can I say, the animation is abysmal to even take a glimpse at, it's not that I hate CGI(Computer generated images) animation, of course, I personally prefer exquisite hand-drawn animation, but I do understand why CGI is commonly used nowadays, not only does it save the studios money, it also saves them way more time if the CGIs are used right. The problem is with the flow and style of it, when you have a movie-budget anime, you could at least expect animations that are less snappy than this pile of junk. Still, fully respect the people behind this movie, most studios nowadays always give little time for the studio behind the animations to work with.
Sound(2/10) - Nothing exceptional, a little bit disturbing at times(Not the definition of being scared, I am saying the meaning where it annoys you trying to enjoy the movie entirely), but the voice acting was overall "Ok". What brings this down to a pile of crap is the awful zombie sound, I understand making a relatively scary zombie sound is hard, especially with all the higher-ups of censorships with their grubby little hands going against you, but you could've at done a better job on the zombie sounds, especially after hearing the other sound effects like bashing or dropping items.
Character(0/10) - The worst aspect of this movie, all the characters are unpredictable and unlikeable. The characters would constantly act differently from what they normally would do considering their motives and personality, all just for the drama in this movie. Not to mention how most characters are really only made for expressing the morals and messages this movie tries to deliver, all of them feel bland and one-sided, hence weak characters that just make the plot feels messier the more they appear.
Enjoyment(2/10) - Dreadful movie to watch through, it has certain scenes that I did enjoy, but it makes up less than 1% of the entire movie, it was dull and repetitive, seen it too many times in other zombie movies. Being repetitive isn't a bad thing, but somehow being a worse version certainly is.
It delivered its messages, but what it traded off was consistent character development and actions, and non-sloppy animation. Love it or hate it, it's a zombie movie that is pretty on par with most of the live-action zombie movies released recently. Hopefully, the sequel of this movie could inspire more creative and inspirational movies to come in the future. There are countless videos online complaining about this movie, and I couldn't agree more after watching this.

As a person who completely finished the LN, and is currently reading the manga, it may come as a surprise that I gave this a low score since the season 1 adaptation was pretty faithful. The reason I rated it so low is considering the other animes I've watched, it's not that this anime is absolutely garbage, it's just that when it's compared to other anime or even just other harem animes, it's subpar in storytelling and overall the weak characters don't help this show.
Story(2/10) - Typical and generic harem plot.
Art(5/10) - It really depends, the animation quality overall isn't bad, and of course animating
...
both ecchi scenes and action scenes will be incredibly hard for studios. Overall, I think it's executed pretty well, of course, I can be nitpicky if I want to, but generally, the animation is quite smooth, especially the animation in the opening.
Sound(9/10) - Voice acting was on-par with most other harem shows, and for an ecchi show, this is way better than most of those out there. As for the music, I absolutely love Blade of Hope, the opening of this series. Thus I am giving this section a tremendously high score, I think for an ecchi harem anime this show fairs very well against its competitors.
Character(2/10) - You got your cool guy with brown or black hair, and of course, you also have your cast of low self-esteem yet overpowered girls. In there, you have a hot-headed tsundere with big boobies that always gets fondled by the male MC, a blue-haired girl who is great at using katanas, because no action anime doesn't have your classic katana that in reality, not many samurais bring around everywhere due to its size and weight. Then of course you also have your white-haired lo--uh girl with incredibly short height. Thus, with the great harem of MC, he is unbeatable.
Enjoyment(10/10) - Although it has an endless amount of issues, I can't stop but love this show for somewhat reason, there is just something about this show that is so bad that makes me want to watch this show.
Overall(3/10) -It's safe to say if you don't enjoy harem or ecchi shows, you won't like this. If you do enjoy those though, I think this show can satisfy your filthy wants while also providing you with cool action scenes.

Story(4/10) - Being similar to other sci-fi stories is not a negative aspect, but being a boring clone is. It brings basically nothing new to the table, it's just your typical action-fest of smacking enemies, just a generic sci-fi show with way more ecchi scenes than it needs, it's another fan service show.
Art(5/10) - One word, "unexceptional". It doesn't have the spark or anything remotely visually engaging, but it's not atrocious. Nothing special, the animal can be described as "meh", the character designs are overall pretty good, but it's not raising the bar higher enough to go over the average mark.
Sound(8/10) - I always forget
...
this aspect in most of my reviews, for an apparent reason, this aspect will either be a 5(Average) or a worse score. And most of the time there won't be much for me to talk about, so I just skip over this part since it doesn't contribute much to the plot. But this opening is a banger, "hopeness" by ZAQ, I just love the song. Other than that, just your typical voice acting and sound, nothing to write home about.
Character(2/10) - Generic, common, etc. I don't think I need to list out a list of synonyms for the meaning of "bland and general". The characters are not explored in-depth, it feels one-sided most of the time. Not to mention the non-existent character development.
Enjoyment(5/10) - Art can be defined as feelings, you can feel misery and sorrow, you can feel delighted and inspired, and you can feel crossed and offended, this shows me that I can feel emptiness. I feel nothing after watching this show, I wasn't sad by any actions taken by the characters, and I wasn't glad and joyful after watching this fan service, I just felt confused by this mixture of this hot mess. I am just confused why this existed in the first place, it felt meaningless after watching this.
Overall(3/10) - Don't waste your time watching this, I've heard from manga readers that anime is just a poor adaptation(Just like what every manga/LN reader says), so I decided to read a bit of it. It wasn't a masterpiece, but I liked it way more than the adaptation.
Take-away from this review: Read the manga or watch other shows, as this one is pretty dull.

Okay, let me get this out of the way, this review is not meant to target anyone who has a similar/different view on this anime compared to me, it's just my point of view and my opinions on the show, so please don't get offended, thank you.
And yes, I am an LN reader and love the series.
Story(4/10) - Way stronger start & finish compared to the first season, most arcs/scenes feel better paced, the only complaint is that it's still not comparable to the light novel. The problem is not with the second season, but with the first. They had already messed the ending
...
up, it's way better just to reboot the series as a whole. Currently, it's like a person copying CoTE, but sprinkling in some disasters, because studios need to change the storyline's pacing. But why? There is no reason to change the storyline at all, and missing out on the actual pool episode is a shame, I will give it the benefit of the doubt that they adapted it way better than when they adapted season 1, but it's still nothing to write home about. Not utterly butchering a task doesn't mean it's significant or more appreciatable, it's the standard for psychological animes. When you mess up the storyline & certain episodes/scenes, the story becomes a mess, and that is what season 2 is. Not to mention how rushed this season was, there were some scenes that were cut out, it wasn't vital to the plot, but for a psychological anime, it should've been in there. Overall, decent and better than season 1, but that is all.
Art(5/10) - It's both ways, sometimes it's substandard, sometimes it's satisfactory/adequate enough, and sometimes it actually looks visually appealing. But overall, it's a disappointing factor, especially after watching season 1. Remember the glimmering eyes that had a bit of flair, well it's back to your standard anime eyes, nothing extraordinary. Even at the peak episodes, the animation still felt rushed, especially compared to season 1. The only reason this aspect is getting higher than a 3 is the scene in episode 12, else this deserves no score higher than a 3.
Character(5/10) - It mostly stayed loyal to the LN, so not much to comment about this, but other than that, a lot of thoughts are still not shown in the anime, and remember the scenes I said in the story section, well even though those were not vital to the plot, it helps build up the world and the characters, so this kind of took a hit in my book.
Enjoyment(5/10) - I enjoyed it, to be honest, I watched it at 1.5x speed, it didn't live up to the LN for me. But I think it will be acceptable enough for any anime-only watchers.
Overall(2/10) - It would be a 0/10 if I am recommending it to any LN readers, this anime reminded me of shows like Tokyo Ghoul & The Promised Neverland season 2, it is inferior to the source materials. It didn't live up to its hype, you are better off watching the clips on YouTube, you will be entertained by those more than watching the full episodes. Anyways, I am just very disappointed with the adaptation, as I've stated, the adaptation is nowhere near to even what the LN does. Though I am glad it got an adaptation, but for anyone looking for a fun psychological show, you are better off reading the source material or looking for other psychological shows.

I am going to keep this very simple, as a big fan of Classroom Of The Elite. I absolutely love the light novel. (tl;dr at the bottom)
I then watched the anime, I thought it was an "ok" show, but a terrible adaptation of what it was. Our male lead basically turned into a robot in the anime, I don't have huge problems with it, but it really takes the spirit of Classroom Of The Elite out, we can't see his expressions and thoughts as much in the light novel, this character development will be very hard, so I am looking forward on how they are
...
even going to adapt season 2(Which is going to air on July 4th).
So, even with the lackluster of the anime, what happened to the manga? I'll just say the opposite of what happened in the anime happened to the manga. Instead of being a smart lead who hides his emotions to fool others and strategically takes actions depending on the situation, he becomes very emotional and expressive. Even though it also does happen in the light novel, it's because he needs to blend it, it wasn't over-the-top "I need a girl".
This review isn't complete, as I haven't gotten to the future volumes yet, but I wish it does stick to the light novel more, and hope it doesn't ruin Classroom Of The Elite with the weird decisions.
tl;dr:
Overall:
Story (3/10) - Weaker writing than the LN, just read the light novel
Art (8/10) - The artwork is beautiful most of the time, but don't expect anything more than what you've seen from the cover. Sometimes the proportions of characters are messed up, and I don't think it's for the cinematic purpose to emphasize the story even more deeply.
Character (2/10) - Didn't know why many changes for the male lead happened, but it didn't feel like reading Classroom Of The Elite, it became a generic school manga
Enjoyment (2/10) - Enjoyed watching the animations and music in the anime more. And enjoyed the plot writing and character development in the light novel way more
Overall (3/10) - Overall is a 1 due to the light novel existing, overall I think the anime season 1 is also better, even if the anime was a poor adaptation

This review is updated as of 4/5/2022
Story (2/10):
It feels like a typical shounen battle fantasy anime, for the first few episodes, it's just characters "I will betray you, so I will kill you, even though in my party, so I will be very sad if I succeed, but I am still going to do it.". Then after that period, around episode 9 onwards, it got better, it revolved more around the world they are in (+ world building point), but each episode feels very pointless, most of the side characters introduced never comes back again, or even if they do, serve barely any purpose. The
...
problem with the plot of this anime is there is no explained plot, it's basically just the humans fighting wangling over & over again, wangling is an interesting monster, but having a sequence of battles for no reason isn't something fun to watch over & over again, especially if there are no "breaks" in the middle.
Art(2/10):
I've seen a fair amount of substandard animes, but none with a tedious plot & animation quality as horrible as this. This show made shows like Gibiate, Hyakuren no Haou to Seiyaku no Valkyria(The Master of Ragnarok & Blesser of Einherjar), and in my opinion, even Hand Shakers, look like gorgeous & aesthetically pleasing anime to watch. They decided to cut corners in the wrong spot, the animation sometimes look snappy, the camera angles sometimes are weird, and the CGI was inadequate. But, the extra 1 point is from the last few episodes, the animation was less choppy & even though the battle scenes didn't have stunning camera angles or visuals, it was still watchable.
Sound(4/10):
The music was overall the best part about this anime, the OPs & EDs were not something to write home about, but it's still good in its own way, the sound effects fit the scenes & overall, the voice acting was not atrocious. The only problem I had with the music & sound choices was that it didn't make a huge impact on me, the music was not imperfect, but just didn't leave an impression, the sound effects were on time & do the job, but it didn't make the scenes more glamorous.
Character(2/10):
The characters are bland & feel very one-sided. Most of the time, I feel like I am watching a bunch of robots fighting a bunch of monsters, the emotions they give was not intriguing. The only good character I will say that was featured was Teiken, he was an obnoxious character, it was hard to even bear to watch him, but, the struggles & trauma he faced made this character normal, it was normal for him to freak out when he [spoiler] because he [spoiler] in the past. But one character doesn't make the characters section any better. Not to mention the side characters that just appear & never come back, those characters are only made for the plot's sake.
Enjoyment(1/10):
I didn't enjoy this anime at all, it was not a fresh idea of a concept nor was it a good take on the classic tropes, there is really no reason for this anime to exist, it was bland & boring.
Overall(1/10):
If you like power fantasy anime where the characters scream to become incredibly powerful, & if you also like the anime where the plot is overall weak, and the villains are too lazy to kill our protagonists using a straightforward way, then this is the anime for you.

Manhua spoiler warning, I will mostly spoil the plot points of some side characters, so please don't read the description if you don't want to be spoiled.
Story (6/10):
I've been on Webtoon & Bilibili Comics for a while now, I've come to see that, I love a lot of Korean Manhwa, Chinese Manhua, and ofc Japanese Manga. Not long ago, about twenty days ago, I've started to read Xiao Mo Tou Baolu La!, or Busted! Darklord. Not long afterward, I've dug deeper into the rabbit hole, and I found this anime, an anime adaptation of a weirdly enough, entertaining "harem". Positive about this anime, the story
...
follows the source material & have the basic Chinese Manhua martial art feel, the negative part about the storytelling is that it hasn't reached the peak of the Manhua yet. Why is it a negative point? The Manhua digs deeper into topics like "This party is gender-specific" & "Your NSFWs are not permitted in this party, you are under arrested", the topics get way deeper into the history of mankind, and the unspoken parts of most, if not all martial arts/demon hunting shows. Overall, the story was quite well executed, the plot twist can sometimes be confusing, but it doesn't get in the way of the plot enough to stop it from advancing, a solid seven out of ten.
Art (7/10):
Art is similar & crisp like the Manhua. The only point I disliked was the animation SOMETIMES being lazy and feels like it cuts corners at less important sections of the story, overall, not bad, but nothing to write home about either.
Sound (7/10):
Voice acting was superior to most other Manhua adaptions, the overall sound effects were great, I personally didn't really like the OP, it was not the genre/type of music I like, but it doesn't make the show unbearable, and overall the OP was bad is just my opinion. And currently, there are only Chinese, and I haven't managed to find an English subtitles version yet, so good luck to everyone who doesn't understand Chinese.
Character (4/10):
Of course, just like the Manhua, this "harem"/ecchi anime doesn't offer fantastic characters, this is more of a comedic show, so I didn't expect much of it anyways, and overall, the side characters always get pushed to the side. The side character introductions & return is way better in the later chapters of the Mahua though, so I am looking forward to that.
Enjoyment 8/10):
I liked the Manhua, so I liked it.
Overall (6.4/10):
Overall, even though I liked it a lot, the highest I can give is still just a seven, it does have cliche plot writing & easily guessable plot twists that you "totally don't see it coming", and at the end of the day, it is still a "parody of" harem animes. An entertaining show & that is all.
Recommend? Depends, I will say, wait for English subtitles, or just read the Manhua from Bilibili Comics app, the anime doesn't offer new content, except for making the world more immersive & lively(Visually). If you liked the original Manhua, then go for it, if you like harems, then it's a 100% yes, it offers a unique spin to harem/ecchi shows. Who will I not recommend it to? People who want a solid plot that have great impacts on each action the character does and will affect the story heavily if they failed to do what was expected, or people who want to watch just a pure harem, this offers more than just a pure harem, so if you only like lust scenes, don't go for this show.
