This could potentially be Hayao Miyazaki's swan song, and as expected from him, it is fantastic! The animation is incredibly smooth and beautiful. Everything about this film is truly peak Ghibli, but I did notice a few things that were slightly different. The animation for the fire had a certain sharpness to it, looking quite distinct from other fires in Ghibli films. It's not bad; in fact, I appreciate the intensity the fire conveys. Another thing I observed is that the music was noticeably softer, leaving a somber impression on me.
As for the rest of my thoughts, this film is filled with wonder and joy.

There wasn't a moment I found myself bored or disengaged. Despite being a 2-hour movie, it moves at a brisk pace, although the first 5 minutes meander a bit. I do have a couple of complaints, but they pertain to the latter half of the film, so I'll save those for my spoiler review when I watch the dub. I wonder if the sub impacted any of my thoughts, but I don't think so. One complaint I can discuss is that I actually wish the film were a bit longer. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and was surprised at how quickly it ended. That being said, this was a truly enjoyable movie, and I would probably rank it among my top 10 Ghibli movies for sure!
