Both series were made in the same time period and share the same feats: action, drama, manliness and a dose of comedy (City Hunter features more comedy than Hokuto No Ken). Also, Ryo's seiyu is the same as Kenshiro's.

Both series make parodies of other anime titles and both are funny as hell! Both series share similarities with their protagonists Ryotsu and Gintoki: both are lazy, childish and money hungry, but when desperate times arrive, they are always there to help their friends.

Both manga series are based on Japan's Sengoku era. Vagabond focuses on Miyamoto while Hana no Keiji focuses on Keiji Maeda. Vagabond has a more serious tone than HNK, however. Both series' protagonists share the same idea of justice and friendship.

Both share manliness at its finest. Both protagonists have a sheer overdose of masculinity (just look at their eyebrows, MANLY!) and defeat their opponents with epic feats (Kenshiro with Hokuto Shinken and Duke with his unrivaled sniping skills).

Saint Seiya

Both series were created in the 80's and share the epicness of the 80's: over the top action, violent scenes, epic fights, the power of love and friendship, overpowered characters and manly tears (yes, Saint Seiya IS manly in its way).

Both series have a team of warriors wearing suitable battle attire. Though Saint Seiya is Shonen and Sailor Moon is Shojo, both series can be appreciated by both genders, as their story and setting, albeit different, have similarities: cosmo/galaxy setting, teamwork spirit, protecting the ones they care and love, fighting for a true cause (protecting the world, etc,), battle posing, unique attack moves for each character, and so on.

Both are sports anime, though one is basketball and the other is football. Overall, both series teach us to never give up either in sports or in life, and to always fight for what we love. Both have comedic sequences, though were more frequent in Slam Dunk, and both have their respective main teams to face numerous challenges to reach the top of a ladder. They were also extremely popular outside Japan and US.

One Punch Man

Believe it or not, both these animes have things in common. Kinnikuman and One Punch Man are both satires to the "hero" ideology. Both series start with their protagonists trying to protect the world from monster attacks but both Kinnikuman and Saitama are underlooked by society. While Kinnikuman starts as a weak superhero but further progresses through the story and Saitama is already overpowered from beginning to end, both series feature over the top action, comedy, manliness, muscles, violence and friendship.
