Most of my problems with one piece are the repetitiveness, lack of threat (characters don’t really die & yes I know ace and white beard die) pacing and the forced childish humor. Correct me if I am wrong but one piece still has these problems in later arcs, doesn’t it? All in all one piece does do some things right, enies lobby & water 7 & drum island & alabasta were pretty good…

I just don’t believe that a show needs more than 500 episodes to get good.

Also very hard to compliment the show when you compare it to something like HxH.
Even if you don’t count the goated chimera ant arc, it still manages to be an almost flawless shounen with human believable cast and well crafted story.

I would say it is the opposite. Chopper had a great set up in drum island but his character was reduced to another ussop clone with a different flavor. The same with Nami. Sanji is also a character that can be summed up with a single joke. A brick has more personality than Zorro. Ussop is the ONLY good character in OP, well Robin is alright too.

Now about luffy, what you are referring to in your comments is external conflicts. External conflicts do not add depth to a character.

Hello, if you are reading this that means you are a One Piece fan. First of all, I am so sorry for you. Second of all, You are an imbecile, how can you like something this flawed and inconsistent, the popularity of the show has always been a mystery to the non Special Olympics participant. Now here are some facts about your so beloved show: The character development of the main character is next to none. The crew members all have repetitive sad cliché backstories. The villain's goals and motivations are either nonsensical or nonexistent. The plot is repetitive, they go to an island - defeat the villain and go to the next, whims and repeat. The show constantly gives the viewers blue balls for death, an example would be a weak side character gets nuked in the face and does not die. The show might as well be about reaction mashup as we spend more time watching characters reacting to Luffy's punches than him actually punching. DISGUSTING. The only reason to commit the crime of saying that you like one piece is to cover the grief of watching over a thousand episodes of this atrocity.
