So... Odd Taxi? What the hell?

Story:
This anime is pure Mystery. No doubt about that. And I love it for that.
Most shows these days like to mix in different genre's and sprinkle a bit of mystery on top, or mostly focus on the mystery element but have a heavy focus on other genre's.
Odd Taxi shows us what it will be in ep. 1 and does not waver one bit from its theme,and I believe it made the anime all the better for it. I honestly can't remember when last I've watched a pure character driven mystery show? Anime/series/movie/cartoon? Can't remember.
I can't go into detail without spoiling(which ... I honestly don't want to do, every detail of this anime that I want to talk about is a spoiler and I won't do that to you) so this just sounds like me fanboying over finding a mystery anime(and yes, I love the mystery genre... If you haven't noticed) but, the way the writers set it up, with the conclusion left as it was... With the grim reality of life shown in such a way? Genius.

What can I say about the artistic choices made?... I loved it. And after watching, I understand it.

I'd suggest watching it in full at least a few times. They did a great job trying to tell a story in itself with it and it would be a shame for you not to at least watch it a few times while saying, 'Oh, that's why that's there'.

Well, maybe that's just me? Idk, check it out and decide for yourself.

Characters:
I'm fairly apprehensive to talk about the characters in Odd Taxi, because like I mentioned... It is a very character driven mystery. So, discussing the character arcs they went through would, well... Spoil the mystery. So I'll just say 10/10. Chef's kiss.

So i just watched ep 11 and after all the screaming, tension filled moments... and tears of joy. i thought about this review i read about it a while back. The guy said he didn't recognize the characters anymore... and something else along those lines.
Me? ...and this is mostly subjective( with a basis of objective review based on character, story beats and so forth)... i f*cking LOVED the season so far.
Bro... bro... let me tell you something, this season has been a perfectly crafted masterpiece. The opponents were billed as a great enemy and by the volleyball gods, they were treated as such. The episodes ... leading up to this one were not only entertaining to watch, but they were necessary to set up a narrative that would be dramatic, emotional... and entertaining as f*ck to watch.

This season has showed us, imo, the natural growth of the karasuno team. We were shown how Hinata has grown from this volleyball obsessed kid who could only spike to a volleyball obsessed kid who is a great spiker and has learned other skills that can help his team... but he's also grown into someone who can look out for his team when they are the ones who get too caught up.

Kageyama has also grown so so much, and so has the others. I'm not gonna get into everyone but if you haven't? watch this season. You won't regret it.

There's really no reason i should have enjoyed this anime as much as i did.
Characters are dumb, premise is dumb, story non-existent, art basic... but damn it i enjoyed it and i think you will too.
That's if you're just looking for a simple slice of life about an otaku making life hard for her hardworking big brother in an endearing way because there's really nothing more to this anime
i do suggest you drop it after the first 4 episodes if you're still not seeing the appeal though, there's really no need to force yourself. You'll either like it or not.

First, let me say i very much enjoyed this movie and i think the fact that i didn't expect much played a big part in it.
The premise itself did not make much sense because even though it is set up as a sci-fi there is never even an attempt to explain the science behind this.
Basically scientists built a supercomputer that has infinite storage and then the recordings stored in it gained sentience and free will.
The story as a whole does not make much sense.
The MC is likeable but the love interest... like in most of these types does not have a deep character tbh. She ... likes books, has a stubborn side, struggles to understand her smartphone, and is straightforward. These are character tropes that are shown in a montage and her character is not explored further than that.
I loved the music in this one, very well done.
Animation was a bit annoying at times but i love the colour palette.

This seems to be another of those run-of-the-mill power shonens. It has basically the same story as Chainsaw Man up till at least chap. 91 of that series manga, and i think Chainsaw Man will give us a much better experience. I don't expect the plot give us anything special tbh.
What's great about this is definitely the animation and OST. I think this series is helped greatly by its good fight scene animation and if it continues to play into this heavy power shonen tendencies, i think it will continue to be as popular as it has. For this season at least.

Though you should not ... expect anything special from this series tbh. Standard MC gets power from some mcguffin. He uses that power to fight for good, sometimes the power gets out of control. That's pretty much what these 6 episodes have shown me.

The characters aren't anything special either. Now i know 6 eps aren't that many episodes to showcase how deep a character is but i honestly don't think they'll get any better. The MC is as generic as they come. The female main gets the same treatment male japanese mangaka seem to give all their female characters and the other guy seems to be a mash up of emo characters.

Overall, if you watch this for the fights? You'll have a good time. If you're looking for something deeper? Nope
