...then you might like King's Maker add

If you like Su-won and wish he were the main character of Akatsuki no Yona OR you want to read a story where the main character(s) overthrow a worthless ruler, consider reading King's Maker. In both stories, the nation suffers from the inactivity/carelessness of their respective ruler. If a rebellion does not happen, the people will continue to live with injustice and poverty. Both stories incorporate magic/fantasy, but it's done differently. Unlike Akatsuki no Yona where the titular character is a reincarnation of the first red dragon and automatically gains the love of the other dragons, we have Wolfgang in King's Maker who lives with the Golden Blessing. But people respect and follow Wolfgang for who he is as a person and his capabilities as a ruler. Like Su-won, Wolfgang grew up learning politics and honed his fighting skills, as well as waited for the right moment to overthrow the king. We could argue that Yona and Wolfgang resemble each other at being born with unique hair and eye colour and having special abilities. But the Golden Blessing does not make people automatically submit to Wolfgang, like how Yona met people who worshipped her because of her hair colour or got intimidated by Yona when she glared at them. King's Maker also has Shin Soohyuk who guided Wolfgang throughout the years. So, Wolfgang does not miraculously learn and become the ruler his country needs in an instant. We witness the characters grow and learn, as well as see Wolfgang and Soohyuk develop together. Akatsuki no Yona gives a lonely vibe to Su-won as his friends (Yona and Hak) didn't know about his ambitions for the country and plan to rule, so that's one reason why they didn't stay with him. King's Maker has a level-headed perspective on what kind of ruler their country needs. In Akatsuki no Yona, Su-won became the ruler the country needed. The difference is that Wolfgang gets acknowledged through his efforts and rapport-building skills. Su-won gained the trust of some people, but not everyone (e.g. some people associate him with his late father named Yu-Hon, Yona and Hak were heartbroken about the way he ascended the throne...). I could tell you, in King's Maker, no one grieved over that heinous king. Akatsuki no Yona has readers on different sides, as some can't forgive Su-won, while others approve of him being the ruler and doubt Yona could ever rule because she was never trained in diplomacy, economics, military strategies, governance, and so on. Yona grew up as the loved and carefree princess, while Wolfgang was a prince in blood and name but not treated affectionately by his father. Readers of Akatsuki no Yona question the purpose of Yona and her crew wandering the country, doing acts of service without Su-won's corporation (not thinking of long-term goals). Meanwhile, there is a clear goal in King's Maker and the characters work together. King's Maker has you understand why rebellion is essential and no one would argue otherwise, while Akatsuki no Yona can give you mixed feelings because the titular character's father was caring towards her despite being a passive ruler. I especially highlight King's Maker for people who want to see or feel what it's like to be in Su-won's shoes, where you dedicate your life to a task for the sake of your country. But a note in advance that the ruler in King's Maker commits the unspeakable, while Yona's father King Il (the one Su-won overthrew) was inadequate so he failed to protect his people.

...then you might like Shinigami x Doctor add

Both stories focus on eliminating an enemy that is difficult to defeat. In Shinigami x Doctor, not anyone can destroy these poisonous flowers or else they would get infected and die. Only doctors can kill the flowers, but of course doctors are not people who can appear 24/7 in every situation, so they do their best to rescue people. Meanwhile in Donten ni Warau, people need both the ability (physical or magical) and knowledge to kill the Orochi, which means not everyone is capable of killing it. Both manga are very emotional, and include sibling bonds that are touching. The death of one's parent(s) is present in both stories, which made me literally cry; the scenes were drawn so tragically and beautifully, and I felt the sorrow the characters had. The characters from both stories have every right to be sad, therefore it would be justified if they lived depressed lives. However, the characters from both stories try to smile despite how difficult their circumstances are, and have courage and hope for tomorrow. These stories are uplifting through the strength presented in the characters. Karakara Kemuri did a great job at depicting the emotions and struggles of her characters in these two manga.

...then you might like Tokyo Ghoul add

Both stories deal with the same questions: how do you co-exist with a species that is innately superior to you? Is killing them the correct answer? In Gangsta., there are people of superior ability called Twilights. Some humans ("Normals") have accepted the existence of Twilights and can live side-by-side with them, even to the point of befriending them and forming families. Aside from their superior strength, Twilights really aren't different from Normals. Yet, there are many people who are afraid and feel threatened by Twilights, therefore want them dead. There is an unavoidable war as there is an organization who is hunting down these Twilights. Although the main characters, Worrick and Nicholas, appear to be neutral since they take on jobs from anyone, which side are they really on? Worrick is a Normal, while Nicholas is a Twilight, so is there a side these friends should be on? Is it possible for Twilights to live peacefully, without being slaughtered by non-Twilights? In Tokyo Ghoul, ghouls are not only innately stronger, but they also eat humans. Therefore, ghoul investigators from the human organization, Commission of Counter Ghoul, work to eradicate all ghouls. However, ghouls appear and live exactly like humans. When humans are unaware that someone is a ghoul, they interact like any pair. Although there are cases when humans accept ghouls after discovering their species, and even date them or produce offspring together, ghouls would commonly be reported and killed. Wars between ghouls and humans occur. The main character, Ken Kaneki, was born a human but then became a half-ghoul artificially. Kaneki's existence is one example that ponders if it is truly possible for both ghouls and humans to co-exist. Should there be a side for Kaneki to be on? Where does Kaneki belong? Can there be a world where both species can live peacefully without slaughtering each other? If you're a fan of action, both stories are a thrill to read as they have fighting scenes. Twilights have dog tags that name their rank (how strong they are), just like how in Tokyo Ghoul, ghouls are nicknamed, and in some cases, rated based on how powerful they are. There are scientific and technological developments in both stories, for the benefits of Twilights and ghoul investigators on the battlefield.

...then you might like Nijiiro Days add

Both stories make readers happy, as well as reflective. Besides the characters being in high school (therefore, having events like school trips and school festivals), these stories depict non-generic characters. There is definitely diversity among the characters, and various situations. You see how people who are in love do their best, in their own way and own pace. There are fabulous friends who encourage and help each other. There are close friendships and tight bonds. Both sexes work for their love. There are no stereotypical gender roles pinned to the perspectives that the stories are told from, as the characters learn and grow through their choices and experiences. Both stories have their hilarious moments and are very refreshing to read.
