Both are female lead slice of life comedy shoujo, and are tonally very similar. Both heavily feature cross dressing as a major plot element. They're both a good notch above most stuff in their genre quality wise, but nothing too amazing. Most people who like one will probably like the other.

Slow paced, mystical, unique, extremely tasteful and artistic. Very high quality show. Certainly not for every anime watcher out there but if you like one you'll almost definitely like the other.

Dark, serious and strange. Both have lots of intense character development that delve deeply into who these people are and what drives them to do what they do. Both have themes of depression and insecurity. Seems like a lot of people don't like Aku no Hana. I love it personally, and if you're a fan of that show too you'll probably also like Evangelion. You've probably already seen it too if you're into psychological anime enough to have found Aku no Hana, so I don't even know why I'm writing this.

Both are deconstructions of the magical girl genre and very cerebral. They both also have pretty strong sci fi plots, although the Alien 9 story in the anime doesn't really finish the story started by the manga. Both have excellent animation and some really well designed monsters, which contrast well to the very moe girl characters. Both of them are pretty damn sad and have some super surreal animation sections. Also, both of them are great and I love them.

I'm gonna describe both shows using one description. An insanely narcissistic man with basically no friends who's top of his class accidentally makes a contract with a strange demon The demon is his useless side kick who starts living with him and following him pretty much everywhere he goes. Lives are on the line as this ridiculous young man faces his destiny and his life is changed forever. So yeah if you liked watching Light scream about insane things you might enjoy watching Katsuragi do the same.
