Ok i know darling in the franxx has been written a lot! and I can understand it. My rating is very high some would say a 10/10 is overkill but let me explain. Some adore it, others hate it. but I also think this anime is misunderstood. For me it is not a masterpiece that is revolutionizing the world of Japanese animation, but it deserves its 10 for the pleasure that I felt watching it.
First of all, I know that with Trigger you don't have to be a sensitive spectator. Trigger likes exaggeration. Let's say that Trigger is a special studio which tends to be

misunderstood but it is a studio which takes a lot of risks and which does not hesitate to shock its spectator or to make its work ridiculous to provoke laughter. Because trigger is generally a reliever. As they were able to show us with his masterpiece kill la kill.
It may be my interpretation but Darling in the Franxx plunges us into a world where children are tools of war separated from the human world despite their humanity. This dehumanization can also be seen by the way the franxx are flown, the position in which the pilots find themselves. It is pushing performance in combat to the limit by setting aside respect for human beings. This anime traces the story of a child deprived of what forms man, that is to say a social being. This experiment or test carried out on the team even studies the effects of bringing freedom to their lives and therefore the expression of their feelings. This is why these children without their parents' education do not understand and cannot define what love, a kiss, chills are. This is why the fan service is also present. They don't know the "ethical" limits. they are in a world deprived of emotions at the base ... The fan service in this anime I did not find disturbing. However, I am one of the people who in the simple fan service can hate an anime. Except in darling in the franxx this fan service is justified. For example the cliché of the beach is the only one of any mixed up anime that I appreciated because there was an interest behind it. The only fan service that bothered me was at the end when the apus turns into a somewhat vulgar zero two. I found that a shame. But other than that, I didn't really realize there was fan service. At least it wasn't as far-fetched from when highschool of the dead or highschool dxd which are really popular but which I find totally ridiculous.
Unlike a lot of people I found the character development to be very well done. Result of things the team is super endearing and you can feel how close they are. This anime takes the time to highlight the characters even if an ideal character development would have deserved 10 more episodes.
The love story between zero two and hiro is really well done. The fact that they had known each other before when they were children makes explicable Hiro's ability to resist the dreaded zero two in the franxx. In addition, Zero two is surely one of the most endearing, most charismatic and one of the best realized waifu. It stands out from what we usually see. Some find that over the course of the anime, zero two has softened and the formidable rebel that she was has become a wise sheep. But they probably didn't understand that the cause of it was that she fell in love. It gave him meaning in his life and softened his character. So I understand very well why his character has evolved.
The story is super well done and the world full of mysteries. and that I love. I prefer it when we discover the world little by little rather than having an entire episode intended to explain how this world works and etc.
The fights are simple but effective. But it could have been better. Having said that, they were really cool.
OSTs are simply magical, you will understand it for yourself.
The only disappointment is the end of the anime which would have deserved to be developed in a second season. I thought it was screwed up.
One thing that I also liked was those evangelion and gurren lagan vibes. Two animes that I adore. But in no way darling in the franxx is a poorly executed copy of evangelion. No they are different.
I could still write hundreds of lines but you'll understand it, watch it, you're either going to fall in love with the anime or hate it. Personally it is one of my favorite animes and I hope they will make a sequel in the style of the end of evangelion because the end was much too fast.

As a member of Sea Shepherd this shit is a disgrace to the anime industry. I don't understand why the overall rating for this thing is 7+.
You will see slayers of "dragons" raving about killing them and eating their meat. Except that the report is quickly made, it's neither more nor less than a kind of propaganda that tries to make the image of whale hunters prettier.
