Waring: I only saw the first episode, and this review is more about why I'm stopping there.
Probably the worst show I've ever seen, but for different reasons than The Ass Bitch War. Purely personal reasons. I don't like Prison stories, and I have a natural (maybe misplaced) trust in my government and police that they aren't screwing everyone over all the time for no reason, even if it's not true. This show takes the reality and pushes it to the extreme, which is hard for someone as easily trusting as me to watch. I don't like how Ganta, the main character is framed and the
...
police bully him, 2real4me dawg.
The characters designs are pretty bare minimum, except for Shiro who looks like a mental hospital run-away, which I think is the point but it kind of creeps me out with how far they decided to take it, which I think is also the point. With the ugly art style it has it's hard to find her cute, not impossible in the hands of a good enough artist, just hard within the context of the show. But seriously being unable to distinguish which part of her body is the straight jacket (thingy) and which part is just her skin bugs me, also her brown mittens kind of spook me too. When she was introduced in the show, I honestly thought she was just fully naked with weird markings, or maybe she is naked and just has a collar on. Hot.
I looked up fanart and she actually didn't look any cuter, way to go show you can't even do that right.
I'm just teasing, this show does have a lot of actual merits: It has a cool metal OP, which doesn't happen a whole lot but I like it (the visuals for the OP are a mix of awesome and disgusting).
It's also a pretty good dystopia, the setting is extreme but not so much that it's impossible to tell why or what they amplified for more than "Wouldn't it be interesting if..." kind of deal. Prisons are carnivals; entertainment for the masses. We kind of already do that on a smaller scale with the flood of shows and books and whatnot about Prison life, such as Orange is the New Black, Scared Straight, (for more Nippon similes) JoJo 6, Rainbow, Prison School, and Nanbaka. We torture and scrutinize inmates who, probably aren't even that bad as well as basically ruin there chances of fitting back into normal society and becoming a better person when they come out.
That's why this is the worst show I've ever seen. Not because it's horribly written or perpetuates horrible cliches and the poison of the industry, but because it reminds me too much of how we actually do things, this show correctly depicts prison as well as the brutality of the police, and frankly, it's so hard to watch that I don't want. Call me part of the problem, but this show makes me upset thinking about how realistic it is, other than Ganta having weird superpowers.
This show is fuckin' terrible BUT if you like it I understand I can't blame you, it does a lot right. Just not my thing.

The first time I saw this film I didn't know what to think I knew it was good but other than that I was perplexed I wasn't familiar with Satoshi Kon's style so I just thought this was some crazy almost-horror movie. But on my second-time through I can confidently say that this is exactly how this film is supposed to make me feel: Strange, confused, and uneasy. To be honest, feelings I'm not used to experiencing especially while watching anime, I can't I like to feel happy with blue skies, not uncomfortable angles and dull tints over everything. I do like this film and
...
the atmosphere it brings I just wanted to clarify my confusion.
I do like this film a lot. I like Mima's character, the shots are genius, like the one of Uchida "holding" the Mima while she's on stage in the palm of his hand or when Cham's music is playing while Mima's doing the photo shoot. Speaking of that I like the music too, I'm into the pop idol music. Like most Satoshi Kon's work, I like the editing I like how the movies Mima acts in correlating to Mima's personal life it's genuinely creepy and makes the distinction from reality to fiction way harder, it's almost a predecessor to Millennium Actress. Speaking of that the scenes where Mima follows around 'other Mima' and the distinction from reality is like a predecessor to Paprika, though this is a lot less trippy.
The film itself is about the duality between what people see and who you really are. I often tell people I know that everybody has a mask usually multiple masks some to show to friends some for family some for the internet and some just for yourself, sometimes we trade in and put on so many masks it's hard to know how we're supposed to act when we are by ourselves. This may sound like a bunch of armchair psychology/philosophy but I think about this kind of stuff a lot. Mima is a character who doesn't know how to deal with the constant switching of masks too fast and too often.
What if you get too popular and there's one guy who's really into what you do and say and you have a sudden change? What'll happen? What's the difference between the people you know personally and talk to at school or work or at home and the people who you talk to online?
Moral of the story don't trust anyone, don't tell anyone anything, internet friends aren't real friends and an internet job is not a real job. Art is a lie, nothing is real.

FLCL is a special type of animation, Fooly Cooly is special because it could've been only made as an animation. I don't mean because of the robots or anything else like that. Furi Kuri has this strange spastic energy that never slows down, even during the slower moments your hearts still racing from the last thing and is getting ready for the next spastic thing. I am a fan of things that are constantly moving.
The closest thing I can compare Maru Raba to is Edgar Wright's 'Scott Pilgrim vs. The World' the way that movie and this OVA are edited and directed make it
...
seem like everything happens one after another like the entire thing actually happened in their respective run-time (Scott Pilgrim feels like it happened in about 2 hours and Faisuta feels like it happened in 30 minutes) Of course there are better things to compare Burabure like Dead Leaves or End of Eva, but not many American movies would be willing to go these extents to appear spastically insane while also being genius. Which is weird because I think American is more insane than Japan, but that's a different subject. I'd like to go into the genius storytelling of Furi Kura, but I don't think I have the right chops to go into that. Frankly, I understand technical aspects than I do symbolism.
FLCLimax, in short, is a genius story told by Mad Men. The only, ONLY, problem I can see in this series is that it conveys its themes in a way that some people will look past it and not get they will see it as ‘brainless’ or ‘flashy and nothing else’. If you did somehow think that during the series, I would heavily implore you to watch it again, and try to appreciate how much animation, effort, and imagination went into this show.
I don’t know how to end this so I’ll just say that Little Busters is the best song on the soundtrack for this show. But it’s like 10 in a series of 9.9s go look it up on YouTube. You know what? Look up the entire soundtrack on YouTube it’s like the best soundtrack for any movie or TV show I promise.

Legend of Duo is boring. It's one of the most groan-worthy shows I've ever seen, which really says something seeing as every episode is only 5-minutes long. While watching this I was seriously groaning and yawning halfway through, so about 30-minutes in.
Here's the plot: In this world dying isn't as simple as old age or puncturing an organ, in this world people spontaneously decompose within seconds. That's dumb, but let's keep going, the only way to prevent this 'disease of death', as they call it, is to drink vampire blood and you'll be able to live forever and so they create a guild of sorts
...
to hunt Vampires for their blood. I'll give it some credit that's pretty cool.
Too bad the main Vampire Hunter we follow is simultaneously the worst and best character in the show, he is a total tool, he's great. Other than Duo, I don't remember anybodies name. Oh yeah, and it also both Vampires are gay. The only reason I don't go more in-depth is because I honestly can't remember anything that happened past the basics. It was that boring and uninteresting
The absolute worst part about the show is that it isn't as hilariously bad as Garzey's Wing, and it's entirely unmemorable. In short, it's terrible, even the joke dub Digibro did for the series sucks, more bearable but sill awful.
Other 'bad' shows have some purpose in a community like ours, whether to torture our friends with Pupa or Boku no Pico. To analyze the faults and learn, like with the Asterisk War, hell some might even give a good laugh like the previously mentioned Garzey's Wing. But please, please, please don't give this any attention. It doesn't deserve it, you're better off watching any of the other shows I mentioned in this review, at least you won't fall asleep watching them, you may even laugh at how bad they are.
But this, this is just the worst.

Before I talk about the show there is one thing I want to mention. The pun in the title is actually kind of clever and made me laugh when I realized it. Okay on to the review.
The story is about a poor, feminine boy named Hime being paid by rich people to whore out and cross dress for them and he agrees to this because his parents are assholes and left all of their debt in his name. And when I say 'whore out' I mean it, you see his penis wobble around a lot in this show, don't worry they cover it up with
...
his panties (which he wears even before he cross dresses for them... for whatever reason).
The art and sound are all that you would expect from a 5-minute episode kind of show. Not good, not bad, enough. Except for the penis physics, they're surprisingly well animated compared to everything else, it's always bobbing up and down and the world just seems to aligned perfectly so you see it constantly, that's where all the budget went, huh?
Now here's the part that really bugs me about this show, the part that really grinds my gears: the characters. All the main characters in this show (except for Hime) are all horrible, maybe not Makoto Itou from 'School Days' horrible, but up there. Unko, Belle, and 18+ (I don't remember her real name, I don't care enough) are complete assholes. There is a scene near the end, that I won't spoil, but my jaw dropped while watching it, I couldn't fathom what was happening or at how horrible these people are... just watching it and smiling and even recording it. That's when it clicked in my head that it's not just a slightly sadistic cute show, but a slightly cute Sadistic show. The side characters aren't much better, Hime's little brother, Kaguya, tries constantly to have sex with his brother which was funny in "I Can't Understand What My Husband Is Saying" and cute in 'Candy Boys' but here it's just weird and uncomfortable. All the other people are forgettable with the only feature that stands out is that they all cross-dress.
'No. 1' is the only other character I like in this show. She gets verbally abused a lot by Kaguya though, poor girl. I think Kaguya does it out of sexual frustration, but I'm not certain.
Now the only question left is: Why do I like this show? That's a great question and I'll give you the conclusion that I came to after rewatching the show a lot:
Hime Arikawa is such a likable character. He's cute, he's not dumb but no genius so he can know what's he talking about and be stupidly cute. He's always nice and tries to put his best foot forward (except for certain moments), he wants to make other people happy even if it's not in his best interest. When he cries you kind of want to hold him and make him feel better, the only bad thing about him is that he doesn't know when to cross the line until it's too late and his entire family is horrible. He's a lot like a puppy actually and contrary to popular belief puppies are cuter than kittens.
Porn could be the reason too, but that answer doesn't really make me look good now does?
Give the show a watch, I want people to suffer with me. Cheers.

When I first heard of this anime, I got a little excited, I honestly thought it would be great! I could probably learn something from this psychological horror, and walk away smarter.
When it was over I wanted to cry and throw up, the only good thing about it is that it's only an hour long. The story is anybodies guess, for some reason there are witches, and demons, despite 'pupa' meaning bug or parasite, they should've went with aliens it would make more sense. It's hard to look at the average art style, you know, with all the grotesque organ-eating happening. The
...
soundtrack is alright by itself, though I had to look it up to remember it. I'd say I feel sad for the kids and their abusive parents, but they are essentially gods with regenerative powers so they'll get over it eventually.
Stay away at all cost. Though you're probably interested in it by this point, and curiosity is a powerful demon, just at least know what you're getting into, and have a bucket nearby for the throwup.

(This review talks about Boku no Pico, Pico to Chico, and Pico x CoCo x Chico)
Boku no Pico isn't a good show. A painful story at the start, with the main character and a guy, double his age having sex in the back of his car, and confusing at the end, with something about Coco living alone and him having 20 cell phones or something like that.
I can't say much about the art and sound it was alright it did its job I think, I don't remember it, and the characters were a little cute to watch 30% of the time, you know when they
...
weren't fucking.
Despite the flaws in the... everything, I did enjoy tearing it apart with my friends, and it's not the worst thing I've seen, it at least held my interest and kept me watching. And even with it being technically child porn, they're probably legal in japan, as long as they're 14.
So gather some friends, and nitpick it to hell and back, and wonder about those cum physics in the first episode.
