Sousou no Frieren
|
Relaxing meditation on the fragility and beauty of life, tradition and culture. Set after the events of a world changing event, in Frieren it's a good one but in Yokohama it's a bad one. They shows are easy-going with light folksy type music. there is drama but it's not heavy-handed stated matter-o-factly or with proper weight.

Totsukuni no Shoujo (2022)

Both have similar atmospheres and similar vibes. Girl on the Other Side is a tad more cutesy and iyashikei while Angel's Egg is a bit more psychological. Both have stunning and unique art styles and tell a more subtle and esoteric kind of story. If you like one you'll like the other, though keep in mind sacrificing the cutesy side for a more dramatic one and vice versa. (Also if you liked Over the Garden Wall check out either of these)

Fukakai na Boku no Subete wo

Both deal heavily with LGBT-themes. Tho FukaBoku is more about a cast of young character's working out their identities together. Hanayome is more about the journey of one person to understand herself. Also FukaBoku is fiction and deals with the whole spectrum of LGBT and Hanayome is a journal about transgenderism specifically. Both really good both really cute.

Hiroyuki Imaishi worked on both (though he created KLK and only directed the first episode of RCH) they both have somewhat similar stories and similar views on clothing (though RCH is more making jokes and being sexy for fun while KLK is making a thematic point with it). I'm sure RCH somewhat inspired KLK anyway.

Both about alien invasions changing the world in goofy ways. Both have a slacker but sometimes cool protagonists, who both likes to cheat. Both a very-capable military-esque side character, a goofy yet invincible feminine character. Both like to parody/reference Jump shows. More Gundam in the case of Keroro

They're both made by the same studios and same people. Both are down to earth simple stories that have a lot of whimsy in different ways. Both feature young teenage girls just trying to live theirs and solve simple problems that young teenagers would have to deal with.
