A harem parody about a blessed high schooler who gets 100 girlfriends. Sounds funny - and it really, really, really, really, really is! But aside from that, it got a lot more than just a few jokes!
But let's start with the main focus of the show, the comedy. A subjective matter as usual, but it's certainly unhinged and always hits the connection to the generic harems it wants to be a parody of, alongside multiple nods to shows of various other genres. The characters fully embrace their eccentric personalities and putting them together always results in the craziest situations.
Talking about crazy personalities, we have:
...
- Hakari, the well-endowed pretty girl who tries to realize her R-rated love fantasies while keeping up the "nice girl" act.
- Karane, the tough Tsundere, who is a lot more considerate and self-concious than she lets on.
- Shizuka, the shy, small and weak otaku so introvert she can't say a word to others.
- Nano, who values efficiency and results, yet doesn't understand the concept of "fun" and "enjoying life"
- Kusuri, the chemistry nerd with an outgoing personality and plenty of potions to throw the world into chaos.
And then there's Rentarou, who, unlike the girls, is not like your average harem protagonist at all. He is very kind and deeply cares for the happiness of his girlfriends, going along with all their lunatic ideas. But he isn't afraid to speak his mind or add a sarcastic comment either.
And as hinted various times now, the show also has another layer to it besides the comedy: It's incredibly wholesome and heartwarming! Perhaps the show you'd least expect it from, but the girls are very relatable and, looking behind the facade of exaggeration, more vulnerable and emotional than one might expect. They are very unusual after all, and don't always have it easy in life. Not to mention Rentarou is the most wonderful boyfriend one could ever wish for, as apparent in the description for him.
There are dozens of scenes that just feel soothing and comfy to watch. Be it the romantic moments, the platonic moments or just one of the girls being her awkward self.
Oh, there's also no shortage of fanservice. Mostly erotic shots of the girls, but also some of Rentarou and couple scenes. But the placing was done very well and always works great with the comedic or wholesome atmosphere of the segment.
A show I merely started because I heard it was funny ended up not only as one of my favorite comedies but also as one of only a handful of shows that romatically appeal to me. If either of these genres appeal to you and you don't have a problem fanservice or unhinged comedy, you'll probably enjoy this show.

Spy Kyoushitsu's first season recieved mediocre critics at best. It did many mistakes - messing up everywhere from a too fast pace to seemingly screening the episodes in the wrong order. It's mystery wasn't thrilling and the cast was far too big to give proper development to the individuals.
So it's hardly a suprise the expectations for the second season weren't exactly high.
The story of this season just continues where Season 1 left off. With Grete, Lilly, Sara and Sibylla getting the spotlight in the last arc of Season 1, Season 2 starts with a story around Anette, Thea, Monika and Erna.
After they
...
successfully completed their mission, they take a few days off, but their vacation is cut short by a fateful encounter. This encounter forces the girls to make some very difficult decisions, and shows them the true reality of their life as a spy. All without their teacher giving advise and protecting them from harm.
This arc does a great job in giving Anette, Thea and especially Monika some much needed development and growth. And at the same time, it tells a great and exciting story with a lot of twists, mystery and action. Something both Arcs of the first season didn't manage to do.
After the first excitement follow three filler episodes, just like in season 1. They focus on Monika, Thea and Anette and work well to satisfy the interest gained in the characters from the previous arc. Monika gets mostly backstory, Thea's story focuses on her values and inner conflict and Anette's goes deeper into explaining the "method in her madness". They also manage to hit with the comedy where Season 1's fillers missed.
The final arc rounds up the first "act" of Spy Classroom, connecting the dots of the first 3 stories told. It does a great job of highlighting each of the girls and how much they've grown, both individually and as a team. But the main focus is on Thea, Klaus and their backstory with the previous members of Lamplight.
This arc once again suffered from slightly high pacing, but unlike the first season's arcs, it's no problem to follow the plot and enjoy it. And it did a great job in finishing the season(s).
Last episode is Lilly's filler - a funny comedy episode. But that's only half of it, as the other half is about Thea processing the previous arc. It finishes with a nice bridge between the two halfs anf finally a tease of what would be next in a potential 3rd Season.
In conclusion: The second season of Spy Classroom is nothing like the first. It fixes all the major problems and finally makes use of the great potential this show's characters and world-building have.
If you cared about the first season enough to look up reviews for the second - go watch it. Even if you are disappointed and conflicted on whether to continue. It was the same for me. If you've come this far, keep going!

Opus.COLORs is an original anime that wasn't popular to begin with. A terribly slow first episode alongside very weak production values didn't help it either. But hidden behind this awful first impression, there is actually a solid and emotional story. It has a little bit of everything: Mystery, Drama, (BL) Romance and even short insert songs along the "Perception Art" pieces shown.
The story starts of with the Staircaster competition. Six Teams, each consisting of an elite "Artist" and "Grader" from Eisen High School, enter an art contest for the best "Perception Art".
Perception Art is essentially a drawing in a VR space, but very
...
advanced, including even sounds and smells. These are created by the "Artists", then published and advertised by the responsible "Grader". Alongside establishing these premises, the contest is mostly about introducing the rather large supporting cast of this show and only lasts 3 episodes.
Afterwards, the main character Yamanashi Kazuya, who has the special ability to experience feelings from the artist of a Perception Art piece, is asked to help the school staff find the author of an unauthorized Perception Art drawn on school grounds. Realizing this "Scribble" might be connected to an accident he was in 10 years prior to the story, he sets out to find it's creator.
On this journey, there is a lot of content on the other characters introduced in the Staircaster competition, who join Kazuya's quest one by one. This eventually develops into a very emotional mystery drama, as Kazuya gets closer to the awnsers of his questions.
The relationships between the characters, alongside the progression of the main characters, is probably the strongest point of the show. And even though the supporting cast is a bit oversized, the characters did get their time to shine in their own sidestories.
The whole concept of how Perception Art's standing among traditional art and the importance of both Artists and Graders for the success of this art form is also an important and intriguing part of the show.
Personally, I'd say this show really grew onto me. And if you are interested in an emotional story in the world of Sci-fi Art and it's hardhips, or just looking for some Boys' Love in the current drought of that genre, Opus.COLORs might be for you.

Yuri is my Job looks like a cute, funny Yuri show. It sends the angelic girl Hime into the world of "Café Liebe", a theme café set as a prestigous all-girls high school with Yuri vibes. However, Hime actually puts up a facade to have everyone love her and avoids getting close to people to hide her true personality.
And Yuri is my Job does the same.
While there is some comedy and laughs at the beginning of the show, it quickly takes a more dramatic turn. The show features two main drama arcs, centering around Hime and her coworkers at the café.
In the first
...
arc, Hime clashes with Mitsuki, as the later not only sees through her facade, but also hates her for putting one up. Meanwhile Hime tries everything to make Mitsuki like her, but her clumsy attempts only makes matters worse and the tension rises.
The second arc is about Kanoko, Hime's friend who's in love with her. As Kanoko seeks to take Hime for herself, Sumika finds out about the crush and tries to protect the café by making her give up on it.
But the strongest point of this show are the four main characters. All of them have very deep personalities and great growth over the course of the show.
Hime is a very multi-layered character. At first, all that's shown is her facade and it's cracks from her clumsiness. But as the plot proceeds, more and more of her true personality is revealed. Because under the "perfect" facade is just a teenage girl dealing with her own fears, desires and her conscience.
Mitsuki is an introverted and serious girl. She is extremly honest and forward, and therefor doesn't get along with Hime. She comes off very unapproachable and had her share of disappointment in the past, which she has to learn to deal with.
Kanoko has a very shy personality. She has no friends besides Hime and is the only person who knows Hime's true self. Over time, she not only fell in love, but even grew obsessed with Hime. But as Hime gets involved with Mitsuki and Sumika finds out about Kanoko's hidden feelings, she has a hard time protecting her perfect world.
Sumika is a gyaru on the outside and a lazy thrid year in the café. She is the most mature character in the cast, having a lot of experience at work and life. At the café she often leads her fellow members through the theme of the "academy" and tries to have her coworkers get along. Later on, as she finds out about Kanoko's feelings for Hime, she struggles to keep those away from her work, believing they would destroy the workplace and the friendship among the girls.
Lastly, a major problem of the show was Mai. Not only does she blackmail Hime, but she also treats her terribly. Gladly, she does not have a lot of screentime.
Overall, I consider Yuri is my Job! a great drama experience with four relatable, complex and deep characters of various personalities coming together under the intriguing setting of "Café Liebe".
