Thanks for the kind and respectful comment. Even though I claim that I avoid any subjective thoughts regarding an art form, no one can totally run from their own biases. And I encourage people to debate me on points we don't agree with. I'm always open to changing my thoughts on a particular piece of media if I am convinced. In fact, I've been in many discussions where I was proven wrong and I had to edit the review because I don't agree with my past comments anymore. For me, the fun of this website is to have meaningful discussions and widen my view with the perspective of others. That, and pissing narrow-minded people off, lol.

I don't think there is a thing as objective truth in any art form. That's why I use the word "criticism" instead; a consensus among many acclaimed writers, professors, and critics. It's not really that there is only one correct way to tell a story--rather, to see how well an author/director uses their technique.

I disagree that art is inherently subjective though. A spectator can come up with as many interpretations as they see fit, but that is subjectivity in which they only hold--not really an "inherent subjectivity" an art beholds, but the spectator beholds. Ultimately, art is inherently objective, and that objectivity is decided by the creator. An artist can tell their audience that their work is open for interpretation, but there is an inherent reason that art was made--an objective to their art.

Although you're right. That comment on my profile is very pretentious, and I mostly keep it because I like pissing off the people who can't handle any criticism for their favorite piece of media haha.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
