I don't think there is a thing as objective truth in any art form. That's why I use the word "criticism" instead; a consensus among many acclaimed writers, professors, and critics. It's not really that there is only one correct way to tell a story--rather, to see how well an author/director uses their technique.
I disagree that art is inherently subjective though. A spectator can come up with as many interpretations as they see fit, but that is subjectivity in which they only hold--not really an "inherent subjectivity" an art beholds, but the spectator beholds. Ultimately, art is inherently objective, and that objectivity is decided by the creator. An artist can tell their audience that their work is open for interpretation, but there is an inherent reason that art was made--an objective to their art.
Although you're right. That comment on my profile is very pretentious, and I mostly keep it because I like pissing off the people who can't handle any criticism for their favorite piece of media haha.
