I'm writing this review right after finishing the last episode of the series, and, generally speaking, I act like this just when I really enjoyed a show.
So I'll state right from the beginning that I really loved Bamboo Blade, for more than one reason.
First of all, it's actually funny. The charatcers are nice shaped and mixed. You can find one for all flavours. Given the case that we are speaking of a group of friends, you have all the anime classical girls, from the shy kuudere Tama-chan, to the violent and loving yandere Miya-Miya. For most of the time I've been watching it, I had
...
a smile on my face, and that's surely something important.
Second thing worth mentioning: this show has a nice pace. Apart from some brief slice of life episodes, the focus is pretty much always mantained. You will enjoy the developing every single member of the club, and their progress in the way of the sword. And this brings us to the most important thing:
Kendo.
This anime is about kendo. It truly is. I'll speak as a kendoka about this: letting alone the fact that the technical features of kendo are nicely (though not too thoroughly) described, I think Bamboo Blade can give someone who's never tried this beautiful martial art an idea of what it's like. It's something that makes you grow, and gives you the opportunity of meeting and getting to know incredible people. And it's damn funny (and during summer it makes you stink :3 But Kirino-senpai will explain you why this is also a funny part). It's not about swinging bamboo sticks.
So if you're curious about kendo, and you want to learn something while enjoying a nice show, give this a try!

First thing that comes to mind, after watching this: why the hell did they do a sequel?!
Of course, money comes as an easy explanation, but from the point of view of who watched the first season and, like me, enjoyed it throughfully, there's no excuse. This sequel has no reason of being.

SPOILER AHEAD, READ AT YOUR OWN RISK AND ONLY IF
YOU ALREADY WATCHED THE SHOW OR YOU DON'T INTEND TO WATCH IT:

...
This is an entire season made because a boy and a girl should have kissed in the first season but hadn't, so that they could kiss. After 11 episodes of pure bullshit (sometimes funny bullshit allright, but this doesn't change its nature), with the exception of a couple of meaningfull scenes, after something like a year of relationship, they don't kiss.

END OF THE SPOILER

So, to justify me giving it the bare sufficiency, speaking of marks, this is just because I loved characters in the first season, and because of the beautiful art of KyoAn animes. If this had been a different show, there would have been no problems, but the first part of the series created some expectations, which sure have been left unsatisfied.
To conclude, let's say that you should watch it if, like me, you are the kind of person who can't leave things undone, and so you feel incomplete if you don't get to know the whole story. If not, and you can feel ok with watching just a part of a story (that actually should have been considered concluded at the end of the first season, since there's no developement at all in this sequel), then leave things at that, and don't waste your time on this second season.

Ok, so it's KissxSis review time I guess. Actually, there's not so much to say about this, so I guess it would be proper to call this more a warning.
Question is: what do you want to watch?
If you're looking for some anime with a decent character-set, funny moments and a well developed light story with a sweet touch of fanservice, hear me: go look elsewhere. If you liked Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo and the like and you want something similar, this is the wrong place to search in.
The story is just about an idiot who tries to enter the same school of his older
...
twin sisters. He loves them but he tries not to admit it, they love him, (no but, here) and they always try to rape him.
But, said this, if you want something completely, absolutely and infinitely random (though not reaching the levels of randomness of something like "Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko"), filled with whole lots of fanservice and borderline ecchi, maybe you should give KissxSis a try. The story is not moving, the almost-hentai moments are concentrated in a bunch of episodes, while the rest is simply stasis.
Of course, like pretty much all the harem MC, our dear Keita will be a useless omega male type, you'll hate him, I guarantee; but he has something worth it (no, I'm not saying THAT, but yes, of corse he's got that too): what I mean is that he often gives in to his sisters' perversions. So you'll have moments when you wonder which one of your three arms should handle the laptop to hide it in a bolt-fast movement from your whole family entering your room, disturbed by the intense moaning of two cute and deviated twins.
And with this we're pretty much done. Do not expect anything from this show, but if you want to laugh a little bit, and to get some pretty hardcore fanservice moments, go for it.

Let's state something from the beginning: Hyouka's one of the best romance/drama/school animes I''ve seen so far.
I'll just spend a few words on the technical features: colours are wonderful, the design of the characters is amazing, with a pretty cool protagonist too. The setting gives the watcher the true feeling of belonging to that school as well. You'll get morbidly attached to that quiet club room, where the four friends spend their days just being wonderfully together.
But now I'll get to the point: what's great with this series is the characters' system. First: not even the slightest presence of the lately omnipresent harem; finally the
...
main character is not hunted by a herd of ravenous women. Also, his best friend Satoshi is not the flat support character type, but he has a strong personality and a will of his own. The same goes for the absolutely adorable Mayaka Ibara, which is the first female character I fall in love with much more than with the main female protagonist (as a comparison, if you've seen Sakurasou no pet na kanojo, it's quite difficult to find Aoyama more attractive than Shina, or Minori than Taiga in Toradora). This is due to her personality alongside with her cuteness, that are able to match those of Chitanda Eru, making the preference a matter of taste for who's watching.
Putting the single characters aside, the fact is: we can see ourselves and our desires in this quartet. The reason we are able to sympathise with Oreki and Satoshi much more than with Mayaka and Chitanda lies in a simple structure: those two girls are special beings who exceed the average level (for different reasons) but they are stuck in their own duties and pursuits, and this makes them wish for what's normal but still beautiful (love and curiosity for example). The two guys are absolutely average, in terms of social status and aiming. This does not mean they are stupid or trivial, on the contrary they are quite the smart and original type. But still they cannot avoid to look up to what's special and extraordinary in those princesses walking beside them. And this is the situation for the watcher: he's able to understand the hesitation in the main male characters, the distance between them And the two girls, and the desire to lower that distance.
In the end, I recommend you to watch this series, it'll remain, I'm sure, as a beautiful memory.
