This anime is new but both of them share the theme of a death game. Although phones aren't used there are restrictions such as 'forbidden actions' that if those involved perform they will die.

Mirai Nikki (TV)
add

If you enjoyed the phone giving you control aspect of Mirai Nikki, Higashi no Eden is for you as these people can do pretty much anything with their phones This anime is also a death game of sorts but there is less urgency to it as the phone users don't hunt each other down and a player only meets death if they break kinda easy to follow rules. This one is more so a mystery and also a comment on modern day society (more specifically employment and NEETs)

This anime is still new but similarities can already be seen. MC fights against demons to try to save his friends but starts to enter their world and learn more of them. This anime is also comedic, similar art style, there's even a cat companion.

Again there is the element of fighting demons and also there is comedy. Both MC's possess a magic sword (You'll hate me for calling it that if you watch Noragami)

Date A Live
add

Both of these anime revolve around girls with some kind of 'curse' that gives them magic capabilities and a male MC who befriends them in order to quell their dark side. C3 isn't as romantically driven as Date A Live. Most of the time the MC actually just gets to know the girls to get to the root of their problem before clashing with them in an epic battle in the hope of ridding them of the curse.

Danganronpa: Kibou no Gakuen to Zetsubou no Koukousei The Animation
add

To be honest I'm not sure if I'm recommending this for the game or the anime. Dangan Ronpa is also an anime about a killing game where the last man standing gets a reward of some kind, however DR doesn't really have any handicaps like cellphones with future-telling abilities or anything along those lines. Dangan Ronpa is a 'who-dunnit' anime but still shares that 'kill or be killed' feeling akin to Mirai Nikki. DR also has a strong focus on the characters and their motivation to kill/what gives the motivation to kill.

Another 'kill or be killed' title. Deadman Wonderland is also reliant on the aid of powers and the contestants in the killing game are also hand picked by some higher power (can't remember if that was actually revealed in the anime as well as the manga). I guess Shiro could be classed as similar to Yuno as she follows around Ganta (MC) and appears to be cute and ditsy but has a whole other side to her. I see a lot of similarities between characters in both of these anime.

Akuma no Riddle

This anime about 'kill or be killed' is actually only about eliminating one target but still has a similar feel. Each episode a character takes a stab at the target (literally) and we see some character exposition. The endings are really similar as well in a way. Akuma no Riddle is leagues away from the violence of Mirai Nikki but we still get pretty good fights and wacky/crazy characters out of it!

Corpse Party: Tortured Souls - Bougyakusareta Tamashii no Jukyou
add

The two anime have a central plot revolving around rumors of a curse. Both anime are extremely violent and I can never quite decide which is more so. Don't be fooled by Higurashi. This may look cute and innocent on the outside but stick with it and it will get SO dark. In a way I believe it's darker than Corpse Party as the events of that anime only really happened because of unknown outside forces.

Blood Lad

Both anime felt as if the main girl was entering a new world (very true in Blood Lad) and having to go through a huge change which they then had to deal with. Blood Lad is more humorous and has more action though.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia

These anime are extremely similar as they are both focused on a main character helping a 'dead' girl to adjust and face their demons. Amnesia seemed a bit darker than Sankarea to me and deals with a more mental issue.

Both of these anime are about a girl adjusting to a 'new world' and being taken in by our protagonist (also a boy in C3). Both have a running romantic theme. Both of the main plots of these anime are reliant on the acceptance of the main character of the girl's odd quirks (like Rea being a zombie and Fear being cursed are quirks) C3 is slightly heavier than Sankarea and puts more focus on side characters. This anime is also quite action packed.

No Game No Life
add

Main similarity of the two anime being that they are set in a 'game' world and the main characters are pro players. Unlike Sword Art Online the game world is accepted as a positive thing accepted as better than reality. No Game no Life has more of a comedic atmosphere than Sword Art Online so it's good if you like the SAO universe and are looking for something similar but lighter.

Both of these anime have an alluded to relationship within them that is never truly affirmed during the story. The two have a similar atmosphere at times. I found Tokaku to be similar to Nezumi from No. 6 in her protection of Haru that she can't really explain.

Both are set in dystopian world's that seem perfect to the happy inhabitants but harsh truth is revealed once an outsider to the world shows the MCs the truth.

Shinsekai yori

Similar in the way that they both seem to take place in a perfect world but when the protagoinst 'slips up' they are shunned, treated cruelly and learn the truth of their old way of life. Shinseki Yori also shows the cruelty of humanity but do it in a different (but kinda similar cos of the suffering aspect) way to No. 6

Going off the hinted at romance in No. 6 I believe these two anime are similar, Izumi reminds me a lot of Shion and the relationship grows in a similar way. If you loved the ship in No. 6, Love Stage is for you.

Both have a similar kind of atmosphere and feel. Taiga and Rikka have both detached themselves from the real world in some way and in both it is up to the main character to reintroduce them to it and to basically make them appreciate life. Both follow a similar story arc as well as having a similar style of humor although Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai touched me more with its overall message.

Same theme of death and afterlife. Both have a similar theme of finding peace in order to move on. Both have eccentric characters and a changing story line that leads to the main climax
