Kidou Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo

Gundam Witch from Mercury HEAVILY draws from the premise of Shoujo Kakumei Utena, except adding mechs, a much higher budget, and removing all surrealism. There is no doubt that Kobayashi Hiroshi intentionally references Utena again and again. Both shows feature a high school girl repeatedly dueling for the betrothal right of a princess-type character who loves to tend gardens in her spare time. In this show, the personalities of the girls are somewhat flipped from Utena, with Mercury have a less confident personality and Rembran having a more confident personality, however the core dynamic between the characters is very similar. If you enjoy this Gundam show for more than just its action scenes, Utena is definitely worth your time.

Both are saccharine romance shows with a humorous instinct that is squarely in the late 90s of anime and manga. Both feature incredibly wholesome and cute romantic relationships, male protagonists that are all-around good people, and female protagonists who have an otherworldly charm. Both are worth watching, but could easily put off people who don't like cheesy romance shows.

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou

Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou is definitely more moe and more apocalyptic than YKK, but the tone of the manga are remarkably similar. Those interested in post-apocalyptic iyashikei would be well served by going back and reading the original of that apparent genre as well as the newest entry.
