Both shows are must watch classics. They both focus on a small group who have reservations about the order of the world. Both shows do an impressive job of illustrating the depth of the worlds they are set in.

Nothing quite compares to Shinseki Yori. Twelve Kingdoms, while not particularly similar to Shinseki Yori, has some similar selling points. These two shows take you on a journey. The audience discovers a compelling, detailed, and well thought out world at the same time as the leading characters. Shinseki Yori has more of a shocking revelation approach while Twelve Kingdoms is somewhat more casual.

These two anime have virtually nothing in common in terms of plot. However they both have similar fast paced and impressive action sequences without sacrificing a compelling and coherent plot. Both also have a-typical protagonist personalities.

Gore is the commonality. Attack on Titan is like if you took Elfen Lied, and introduced a plot and characters that are actually interesting. Fans of intense action sequences and gore will appreciate both of these Anime. Attack on Titan throws in a good plot as a bonus. Elfen Lied does not.

These two Anime are very similar. They are both set in a magical world where various kingdoms are battling for supremacy. Additionally powerful relics are at the centre of each story. They both have somewhat engaging characters but could do a bit better.

Both of these series start out with a simplistic, unsophisticated, and cliche feel to them, however after a few episodes in they develop into relatively original stories. Both of these series have an epic fantasy feel to them, and they involve magic systems that are not particularly imaginative or ground breaking, but are still relatively interesting. The characters don't develop enough depth to make you invest in their story, however they are interesting and creative enough to keep you engaged. The bottom line is both these series have a similar setting, vibe and appearance, and while they do not have any particularly strong elements to them, are definitely a fun and interesting watch.

I began watching both series with the same expectation, a bit of simple, somewhat silly, guilty pleasure action. However both series develop a surprising amount of sophistication and intensity that the initial introduction to the theme would not lead you to expect. Both series have regular gripping combat scenes, and despite an initial impression of simplistic personalities, develop very engaging and unique characters. Both these series manage to take seemingly juvenille and cliche concepts to create an engaging and unique story.

As far as plot is concerned these animes are not particularly similar. Both feature supernatural themes, however this is not much of a connection either. The two features that makes these two anime similar are the general vibe, and the constant questioning throughout the series of whether it is uniquely brilliant or simply bizarre and annoying. In my opinion these animes have an element of both, however if you removed the bizarre and annoying elements you would be left with something that is purely average. If you like one you will probably like the other, however Kurozuka is the superior of the two.

Both animes are rare in the fact that they are excellent and short, but don't leave you with the feeling that there should be more. Both have a compelling conceptualization of vampires that is particularly rare, as well as a strong plot, animations and sounds which contribute to a chilling and engaging atmosphere. These animes don't have particularly weak characters, however could probably benefit from a bit more character depth. Kurozuka, however, is not quite as accessible as Tsukihime, and may be difficult for some people to follow.

Both series start out with the appearance of an appealing fast paced action anime, but it quickly becomes apparent that they are predominantly character and story driven with intermittent compelling action sequences. Both animes also have a battle against the odds, which creates bleak undertones that are predominantly overpowered by a determined and hopeful vibe. Both series feature a secondary plot following characters from a different side of the story, and a main set of characters that are unlikely friends. Both animes have strong leading characters, a compelling and wonderfully animated world filed with interesting lore, and are instant classics.

Both Basilisk and X have two waring factions with supernatural abilities, they also don't have your typical moral "good" and "bad" sides. Both animes also have a somewhat bleak atmosphere to them, and contain a similar group combat progression (deliberated phrased strangely to avoid spoilers). Both these animes also leave a bit to be desired from their leading characters, but have relatively solid supporting characters. However these two animes are set in different time periods, and also have a different feel to them.

These animes don't have a vast amount in common, however if you enjoyed one you may enjoy the other. The Book of Bantorra is far less bleak and serious atmosphere, and the leading character are (for the most part) far less morally driven, the feel of the two animes is also quite different. However both have a mix of regular enjoyable supernaturally fueled combat scenes and character developing episodes. Both animes also have a diversity of abilities and a relatively large lineup of characters that each get their own turn in the lime light.
