I watched this movie today while scrolling through Netflix. I needed something that my 3-year-old brother, and 11-year-old brother could occupy themselves with. I had been avoiding it for some time because I didn't think I'd enjoy it. This movie is for the younger audience and I don't personally enjoy all of the, "Happily ever after" "Prince saves the princess" mushy stuff. If you aren't into that either I wouldn't recommend this.
Story: 4 (very descriptive lots of spoilers but I tried to

SPOILERS
You first get introduced to, Miyo, the main character at a festival. The story starts off pretty quickly where the girl gets upset and starts running through the bush to a path where she finds, what I would describe as, Ursala(The Little Mermaid), that one big-nosed witch(Spirited Away, aka Zeniba), and the Cheshire Cats love child. It gives Miyo a mask(which we will later learn is so she can get close to her crush) which can turn her into a cat. This cat keeps coming back all like, "How about, you, turn into a cat fulltime, cat life is better, join the dark side." and she puts it off time and time again. Until, she gives a note to her crush to make him feel better because some family issues, Hinode(the crush) doesn't speak up about his interest in pottery (grandfather works a how-to class which is going to get sold for Hinodes studies). Anyway, some bullies steal the note and read it out leaving Miyo furious and Hinode embarrassed. Hinode breaks her heart blah blah, Miyo is now depressed as heck, her parents are being stupid, her father likes a new woman that she has to live and put up with, her biological mother randomly wants her to live with her and to top it off she just got vetoed by her crush. Miyo is done with this sh*t so she runs away from home and hippity hoppity fat cat comes along, "Lifes tough as a human huh, be a cat." and she gives in. Little did she know this cat is a rip-off and is trying to steal her life force also. Soon she will become completely cat and lose the ability to understand humans and turn back into a human. Her crush starts to show signs of liking Miyo back so Miyo realized she'd done f*ck up. She goes off to get her face/mask back and trouble arrives, the fat cat apparently doesn't get many depressed, make me a cat customers so they try very hard (for a kids movie) to stop her and her future boyfriend from re-humaning. The cat basically attempts to kill them and steal all their life force but, that fails because of a group of "Human cats", or what I like to call "turnt cats" who regret their decision. Anyway, Miyo and Hinode escape happily ever after, the end. WOOOO ROMANCE!

Now I haven't seen Weathering With You or Your Name but I'd imagine the visuals would be similar. I thought it was gorgeous. If you aren't there for the plot you are there for the visuals because this was beautiful. I think the Cat land would be similar to Spirited Away's Spirit Realm. It is this magical place with a very homey feeling. It is pretty nice, I'd live there if I was a cat. Everything about this movie is pretty. I usually have this thing with 3D backgrounds in anime mixed with the 2D-ish people but this was different. All of it looked good and blended in nicely with each other, nothing looked out of place in my opinion. I really appreciated this. Overall, beautiful presentation.

Miyo, the main character, is this super loud mouth, energetic, wack character. This type of person can be aggravating in many cases but, she didn't annoy me too much. In any case, she is broken under her smile. Her love interest, Hidone, is a quiet, loving, "parents force hard work and good grades" type of kid. The thing that annoyed me was Miyo's complete love over Hidone, like come on girl gimme some other MOTIVES UGGGGH. She just annoys Hidone and Hidone is just annoyed for a significant amount of time. My favorite character in this whole thing was Miyo's best friend. This girl stuck by Miyo since bullying in their childhood, knows Miyo well, loves Miyo, and knows what's best for her. She's just the most real person. Hidone goes through character development slowly seeing the worth of Miyo and appreciating her love for him, eventually sharing the love. YEESSSSS MIYO YOU SCORED.
Enjoyment: 6
For a random movie I watched while bored it was pretty good. It is made for the younger audience so for a kids movie it gets my stamp of approval. Would I watch this alone, maybe, depending on the circumstance. It was fair.
Overall: 5
If you are okay with the mushy, prince saves princess, Little Mermaid like theme. Sure go ahead.
The animation is good, the visuals are nice it's just... it feels like I've already watched it because it is like a copy-pasted plot like when you go to a bunch of sites to get some help on your homework and mush it all together to get this similar to this, similar to that, yet its own feel. I don't know, it's not bad enough to be a waste of time I think, it's just meh.
