Bakuten is a sports anime about a less explored artistic sports which is rythm gymnastics. The concept itself is very fascinating as gymnastics itself is a very endearing and beautiful athletic sport. I was expecting a deeper voyage about it just like Yuri on ice. The first episode was really catchy leaving you wondering how a our MC Futaba, who never did gymnastics before would try to make it into the sport and become great in it.
Before telling the most obvious issues with the show let me first talk about the positives which is the VA is pretty good, which is no surprise seeing the
...
talented line up of seiiyus.
The animation is neat, and story is just ok without any serious drama.
But that's all the good things I can list.
To be very honest, Bakuten has some very huge pacing and editing issues. The comedy while at some parts were good, most of the time it falls flat. The scenes cut randomly which looked quite odd. It's the same with BGM, there was an overall blending issue. I'm not sure if it's the direction but the viewing experience was very boring. There are some drama but most of it is shallow and gets resolved pretty quickly. I feel like there wasn't anything stimulating about the characters to connect with them. Insert many stereotypical tropes, you get a very mediocre experience. The lack of a good script coupled with a poor direction tales away from any potential the show had.
If you like sports anime you might want to give it a try, you will enjoy Bakuten the most if you go with the least expectations.

I have to brag about how hilarious this show is, with moments literally making you go “wtf”. I really appreciate some good comedy, making me genuinely chuckle, which is a breath of fresh air from the usual lame virgin jokes in some of the recent anime I watched.
Plot:
Frankly, first half of the series was lit, it was a solid 8/10 for me. Second half there was a serious drop in quality. In spite of Excalibur making an appearance time to time, the show started taking itself seriously. It was a mess but somehow enjoyable. Nobody dies and there’s a power of friendship bigger than Deus
...
Ex Machina which saves everyone and everything.
Sound and Animation is easily one of the best things about of Soul Eater. The Halloween cartoonish style and BGM was perfect for the vibe of the anime. Especially the OP and ED’s were amazing.
Most of the characters are very likeable. Death the Kid was one such who grew on me as I watched more and became my favorite character by the end. I thought it would be Maka, but somewhere along the way her character became very inconsistent, from being quirky and determined to an emo teen girl throwing tantrums. My biggest grievance would be Soul, there was so little of the Soul even though his name was literally the title of the anime. I wished there was more moments for him to shine but most of his scenes are just to assist Maka or help her snap out of her mood swings. Medusa was easily the best antagonist considering how she achieved something as opposed to Arachnae and Asura.
I’d definitely recommend a watch because it’s silly, fun and entertaining. The typical shonen cringe tropes were also just a handful and the anime maintained its own unique aesthetics for the most part.

I'm ten billion percent sure Dr. Stone should've been able to achieve a lot more, for the exhilarating premise it had. Sadly, all the suspense, intrigue and tension erodes within the next 2-3 episodes and then remains as a stagnant shallow pond to the end.
One aspect that was compelling is obviously Science. It was interesting learning about how different inventions came to be from primitive resources and learning that was the most enjoyable part of the show.
But, that isn't enough to make a great story.
There was something missing. One couldn't tell if it was trying to be serious or lax. Everything is facts and logic
...
when it comes to scientific discoveries but the same logic isn't imbued in the storytelling. It seemed childish. Maybe a premise like Dr Stone's would've done a lot better if had taken a more serious route where things happen in a very nuanced and realistic matter.
Although it was entertaining, certain episodes were just dull and infantile. The Characters are all pretty damn one note and boring. they don't have a personality to kindle any sort of conflicts or character development. The interactions are lanky and doesn't have any realistic depth. You can't take any of the stuff that happens in the village because they all seem like NPC background stories in an RPG game.
Senku is okay, but here's the thing he isn't a compelling protagonist. But one can see that a lot of effort was put into his character and I admit he somehow keeps the show running. Not going to talk about Taiju or Yu whatever.
Chrome started off as exciting but slowly lost his luster.
Kohaku has zero personality and the VA is mildly annoying every time she has a dialogue it's delivered in a forced hefty monotonous voice.
All the other girls are stupid and characterless, except for maybe Suika who was way better than Kohaku or Ruri-"neigh"
The only character the best by far is Gen, due to his nuance and unpredictability, he also pushes the MC out of his character even if to a minimum.
Tsukasa was really interesting at the beginning with a complex ideology, but soon turned lame reviving stupid cardboard chunks and wanting to go to war with Senku. He wanted to revive only the youth to prevent the world from being devastated by the wicked old and rich. That's an insane logic, as per Tsukasa's brain youth is virtuous and old is evil. Just like that and science bad. "Handclap buddy handclap"
Most of the characters in this show pretty lame.
The science stuff is logical but the way it is progressed and conceived itself is far fetched. They make everything so quickly and all the materials are available so conveniently, there's never a space for uncertainty of not being able to find or make something. But I'm not gonna complain much about that since it's a shonen science fiction.
Overall, show had lot of potential but failed to bring out it's true capacity. It turned into a run of the mill shonen anime with all the generic tropes and lousy characters.

Gakuen Babysitters is really cute for what it is. It's about babies. I’m not a baby person per se but babies are cute, and that’s the only cute thing about the whole show. Rest of the characters are as archetypical as they can get. The story thrives on cliché after cliché. In a nutshell the main focus of the show is sibling love between Kotaro and Ryuichiro. Of course such a setup always has potential if one wants to work with it. This is a slice of life theme that will never get boring. You know, babies grow up, they mature, brothers can drift apart,
...
growing up is hard etc. etc. It’s supposed to be relatable.
Except in Gakuen babysitter it’s just a superficial and cutesy shojo anime without any real substance. For those who enjoy these overused tropes all in one, it’s a nice time pass.
There’s a stoic hot guy who constantly hits his 3 year old toddler brother. Yeah, he hits little toddlers. That’s supposed to be a gag btw. I’m just glad Kamitani is living in Japan where maybe it’s okay to harm kids because in my country you can literally go to jail. Yeah, no he’s quite serious when he hits them. Taka is his brother and the only fault is that he behaves like a toddler of that age. He’s not even that troublesome except for he’s loud and stupid. But hey, let’s laugh and swoon over Kamitani for abusing Taka mentally and physically. If this show was ever taken seriously it would have far more repercussions by mentally imprinting that behavior in little kids. I hop Taka doesn’t grow up being a dick, because the only thing he’d remember was his brother being a stoic asshole (dumbhole) who says he doesn’t love him and verbally hurts at every opportunity.
Then there’s an archetypical cute guy pedo. Comedy again. I’m really sure he isn’t but that’s the gag and you’re supposed to get the humor mistaking him for being a pedo but he’s not. Oh wee haha how funny. Because there aren’t real pedos who have raped 3 months old babies.
Yeah sometimes they just don’t know how to do comedy without being so gritty.
There’s then, a paranoid father of Kirinchan, where you have to laugh when he flirts with minor school girls. Mom doesn’t mind obviously.
Oh and this other guy who is in love with his teacher (yes in love). Omg so funny and cute. And we are supposed to take him seriously.
Anyway even if you don’t, you have the googly eyed MC who for actuals god’s sake consoles this nut head and is apologetic as apologetic word can go. There’s no comedy except that something’s are just so weird. He feels bad for telling Kamitani not to hit his baby brother. In this one episode I wanted to throw off my cereal bowl at the screen. It was supposed to be a lesson for 3 year old Taka on how to behave and. Yes, I was expecting a deeper message like kids ruin your stuff but they grow up and stop needing you without taka having an idea exactly but holy it was an actual bad lesson for Taka. . The kid bowls his eyes out saying he is sorry, but his older brother is cold as ice. And mother is useless. I feel like there’s not a fucking adult who knows how to deal with a situation involving a child. I’m pretty sure I’ve never seen anyone being so tough to a 3 year old baby for anything they do except calmly make them understand. But you don’t hurt a child, ever. In Gakuen Babysitters, they do.
Not to mention that there’s absolutely no safety for the kids. The babysitter is almost always sleeping, the windows are open, kids just roam around in school with no supervision.
Characters are dumb but not unbearable.
Apart from that this anime was a nice time pass. You’re not supposed to take it seriously. Yeah I know I’m talking but I have to write fax in reviews so.
Oh yes there’s a mandatory beach scene and boob press scene because….it’s wholesome that way

MINOR SPOILERS BELOW
I understand why most people are underwhelmed by the ending. What I understood during the course of the show was that, Monster is more about the journey, the character growth and connections they make than an extravagant finale. The show gives various opportunities for viewers to relate and retrospect on human philosophies and dilemmas, which was compelling.
Since the character development outweighs the final resolve, I couldn’t subtract my points. It’s still a great anime. I agree that I felt let down with the ending and the rationale explaining it from a logical perspective but the buildup was fantastic.
I don’t find any plausible
...
explanation as to why Johan must be forgiven. I can’t be convinced. But I’m willing to overlook that for how much I enjoyed watching the show.
It's not a bad ending, just not a great one.

Spoilers below!
Also fair warning, I will be commenting on the pedophilic undertones in the anime so if you’re already against that discussion, feel free to avoid my review..
A lot of people, although maybe minority have already addressed their observations regarding this issue in Made in Abyss.
So over to the anime, It was just decent. I’d rate it anywhere between 6.5/7. I would have rated it higher if it wasn’t for the subtle disturbing sexual innuendos forced on 12 year old kids.
The animation visuals were undeniably breathtaking. The aesthetics of world building of the mysterious city of Orth, circumventing around a bewildering, mysterious pit, the Abyss
...
is indeed fascinating. The concept itself is enough to spark intense intrigue from the beginning. However, I found the series loosing momentum at various points throughout the watch. We’ve been kept told about how dangerous the Abyss is, and how only a handful of people called whistles make it back, but that dangers so profoundly articulated by the narrative is reduced by one third of it’s level when the protagonists, two 12 years old's embark on descending the abyss.
Maybe it’s the leads. I couldn’t be any less interested in what Riko and Reg will do because they somehow overcome the dangers via plot armor and Riko, just has no character development, other than being the oblivious kid who is the least concerned about anything around her. That’s aside from the constant “Reg, please protect Riko” insinuated by secondary characters every now and then and rather than a power duo effort, it’s Reg who always saves the day, it gets annoying. The leads and their chemistry are not the most interesting, in a way I couldn’t care what happened to them. There’s something missing in their motivations to make me root for them. The only few characters that's really worth of admiration despite a short screen time are Ouzen, Nanachi and Bondrewd.
The series makes you think that with every descension of one layer below the other, the more compelling it would be for the protagonists, that I thought they’d take few episodes to make it to the next. But that intensity is rarely felt. I couldn’t feel the pounding danger at all. There were loopholes in the technicality of the abyss ascension nd descension which were not explained well.
Last but not the least. Maybe because I don’t know, It creeps me out. I really don’t find anything appealing in the of fan-servicing of 12 year prepubescent children. It’s not anything new in Anime, but it also strips the seriousness of the plot and characters by shoving the fan-servicing attributes into it. I also, found the last bit of conversation between Nanachi, Reg and Riko very unpalatable. I don’t find such subtle insinuations of sexual talk between children to be tasteful unless if it’s teenagers or adults. I am more graveled by the mindset of the author in trying to incorporate those insinuations when the plot could’ve done very well without constantly reminding about Reg’s penis, and showing Riko naked. The way to enforce the fact that they’re innocent kids by putting them in the hyperbolic scenarios that children shouldn’t be while catering it to adults, is like pot calling the kettle back. I mean what was the necessity of Reg and Riko completely going naked in the pool, and Reg getting a boner and Nanachi also another 12 years old subtly insinuating the atmosphere as romantic. This whole scene gave me the creeps. These are fucking children. But enthusiasts will always find reasons to defend them as cinematic art, or plot necessity to prove their innocence. No Sherlock, it’s only in anime, and anime the lolicon/shoticon fetishes' are normalized under the veil of story telling or plot requirement. As though there hasn’t been masterpieces of fantasy/adventure genres made involving children without the need to make them naked or make a skinny dipping scene of 12 year old children talking about boners. It a latitude existing only in anime to make it dark and believable. To top it off it’s aimed for adults which makes it all the more sense why it’s just for fanservice and fetish and not for plot. It’s morally convoluted if for an adult to drill these gimmicks between children. We all know what happened when cuties came out on Netflix.
So, I’m not the most excited to see the second season. I’m definitely turned off especially after hearing how the author is apparently a pedophile who satiates his fetish for prepubescent children through his work.
But, would love to see more of the other characters though than focusing on a budding romance between children through precarious ways. Welp, I guess this is not like TPN.

Yeah, It's pretty bad. I didn't want to trust the atomic scores for this season. In fact, up till episode 5-6 I was convinced that people were being too harsh on this franchise. But. boy I flipped the table on episode 11. Damn right it's bad. Me, who vehemently believed TPN S2 doesn't deserve a score below 6.5-7, humbly give a 4.
This might have been the worst downgrade , nah call it injustice - I've ever seen done to an anime. Everything that made the first season so good - the suspense, tension, high stakes, horror elements, all of it, ALL OF IT, amounted to
...
nothing ultimately. Big whoop.
The world outside the orphanage which we thought was supposed to be grueling and intriguing, felt like a child's playground. Not even once did I feel scared for the kids, the demons were all vanilla and main bad guy was terribly cliché. It became a B class shonen adventure story from a masterpiece. Just how can you destroy something to this extent?
Besides the plot holes, questions with no logical answers, there was no punch to anything. I mean the way we found out Norman was alive,? so damn bad and stupid.
TPN season 2 is like taking a sip a from a warm cola after all its gas evaporated to oblivion, that you want to spit it and wash your mouth cause it tastes like a bland toilet disinfectant.

I don’t know if my review will see the light, with everyone seeming to give a high rating, but here it is. Combined review of seasons 1, 2 and 3.
First of all, I’m really glad I didn’t drop the series. Ngl, the first season was sleep inducing compared to the other two. But, trust me, just stick around, stick around to the end, bear it because season 2 and 3 are way better. In the first season the humor was lanky, characters constantly do stupid things, and the world building wasn’t good enough, sub plots was boringly executed, inconsistent/ ooc character actions, umm and
...
the creepy incest. Not that these problems don’t recur in the following seasons but there is so much improvement.
For me, the first 4 or 5 episodes is still the best of Bungou stray dogs, it really pulled me in. The grit was genuine and the stakes were higher. Oda was a great character perfectly suited for that arc and to help us understand about Daz’s past (albeit only a little). After that well, the story was back into the main plot, although not a masterpiece but it’s actually entertaining.
There are obviously many problems with the show. For example, the pacing. The pacing is very erratic in the show, not giving enough time to develop certain events for the audience to connect. It’s very evident that the creators were trying to stack the given content into the 12 episodes so the second part of any season is usually very fast paced. Things happen quickly moving from A to B to C, not giving enough time to comprehend but it still keeps you on the edge. Not that it’s unpredictable.
Which leads to an issue in BSD is that you never feel any real tension. Not once have I seen any members of the PM actually being able to manage to intimidate the ADA. Whether it’s Chuuya, Akutagawa, or anyone they mostly gets their ass whooped in first encounter by the ADA, just making them look stupid. Are they really scary or even powerful? Because they’re never given the justice to how they’re raised to be. I think Akutagawa needs a break. He’s so frightened by all, yet he’ll be the first one to loose or always get outsmarted. HE almost lost to 14 year old Kyouka ffs. I’m starting think if Daz is actually right that this guy isn’t strong. I still like him though, compared to our main protagonist Atsushi who always feels inadequate like a loser every single time but from the get go he’s a pro. I can’t root for the protagonist because he always cries about everything but ultimately wins in any situation even if it’s the first time.
The characters are usually strong as long as the plot requires it. Sometimes they’re OP, and sometimes they forget that they have such incredible powers. And although by logic they shouldn’t be able to defeat the villains, they’ll most likely loose because err they’re on the bad side. Most of the dramatic situations are avoidable if people used brains. Be it the guild, or PM or ADA, there are many scenes where the characters are stupid that for illogical reasons they abandoned the crew or don’t fight in certain situations. It seems brilliant but it’s quite dumb actually. If you’re powerful why not fight together?
The powers or abilities and the world building is one of the weakest points of BSD. There is no clear picture as to how one gets abilities, how does the general public view it, or its limitations. I guess, it makes it easier to do ass pulls and powerups when the plot needs it if it’s that way.
But it’s not a very serious show. I don’t know if it wants to be. I never took it serious. You know that none will ever die or get injured, as long as the plot doesn’t want it. One guy I tell you, he was literally 2 feet apart from a suicide bomber during explosion, but he doesn’t have a fucking scratch on him, wow. Wow.
Daz gets shot from behind, but there is absolutely no blood stains on his back and he only bleeds in the front. His coat was looking as shiny and new after getting shot. Atsushi turns into this insane flash hero that even eludes high tech sensors but doesn’t use it to chase a criminal who is 1 meter away from running away in a tow cart. Powers have absolutely no explanation as I said before, you’ll get to see characters pulls new tricks out of thin air as needed by the plot. Cool. Daz just never loses anything so and is a master manipulator who has manipulated the big manipulator and basically it’ll always be a happy ending. I don’t mind it but the show tried to make me look dumb into thinking that things are actually serious.
BSD is not a bad show by any means, it’s a good show. It’s nicely written and keeps you engaged. If you can make it past the cringe comedy and snooze fest in first season, it gets good from there. There are many unanswered questions and mysteries yet to know so it’s worth looking forward to the continuation.
P.S. Fyodor is awesome.

Man, I was really rooting for this series. The concept of skating as a premise was new and interesting. It was engaging in the beginning but half way through the series, it felt as if the creators were running out of imagination and was making a mess out of the plot elements. The ending was a huge letdown.
Even though I fairly enjoyed the anime, I still can’t give it a high score because truth be told it’s relatively very average. Let me tell you they could have run with far more interesting scenarios than making the plot revolve around a knockoff brand of Hisoka. It
...
was a cringe fest. Episode 12 was an amalgamation of cringe that was build up throughout the 11 episodes. It seems to me that this anime was targeted towards a younger audience because if you have a more mature literary standards, then your brain will recoil when you watch this. And I don’t mean the entire series is like that. It has decent comedy and chill entertainment. But even if you watch it without any seriousness whatsoever, you still can’t look past the lame-ness of the show.
Plot: As I mentioned earlier, I personally believe that from a script’s pov, they could’ve run with other scenarios that would’ve been much more intriguing than a focal villain. This Adam villain is corny. There’s a limit to which one can shut off their brain. There was nothing he did that made sense as to why he was redeemed so quickly. It’s like the characters have amnesia or so. There are no consequences to his actions and they don’t care what happened an episode ago? That’s corny. Who in the right mind would forget about someone who tried to kill you and then forgive them enough to join their bbq party? Right.
And the race with Langa and Adam had no stakes. It was predictable. There was nothing in their relationship that warranted a dramatic change or made that race intriguing. Why on earth is Langa invested in curing the guy who had no hesitation to kill Reki? There was no natural tension. It felt corny. I know I’m using this word a lot but that’s just how I felt watching the last episode. I couldn’t take this show seriously. For some reason I thought the final race would’ve been between Reki and Langa, as that would’ve been a twist and there was more psychological and philosophical elements to explore if it had been that way. Reki’s insecurities were the only thing in the show that was most natural and compelling and it could’ve gone in a direction that resolves it in a more fruitful way than a guy who’s horny to find his EVE for some godamn reason. I still don’t understand his shit.
Characters: Reki is by far my favorite character. But, it was a bit annoying when he started to say “skating was fun” for every other thing later. Langa was a prodigy who had absolutely no low points making him quite bland. He wasn’t insufferable though. I feel they could’ve explored more of his snowboarding background in Canada and how good he actually was. Snowboarding itself is an amusing sport and they could’ve may added more of his background elements. That would’ve been fun to see. It’s like all of this was there, but nothing was well developed.
Some other characters are very typical but not bad though. I liked them. I do have to say Miya was a waste. His only function was to add visual variety to the show by filling the role of the cutesy cat boy. Because let me tell you he did absolutely nothing after his debut. They all had potential to build interesting character relations and give them challenges but all they cared was for Adam. And let me tell you Adam isn’t even that great. He’s not an intimidating antagonist. And his backstory was also subpar.
Oh yes, talking about character development, after everything was over, he calls his PA Tadashi that he will be his dog forever to which Tadashi blushes. What the hell is wrong with people, seriously? LMAO. That’s the level of this show if you need a glimpse.
Sound: Okay OP and ED are pretty good. No objections.
Is this a gay anime?
Not really. It’s debatable, but it certainly has gay undertones. But I genuinely don’t think this show is bold enough to say it is a shonen ai. It’s more or less ambiguous because it’s specifically made in a way that is convenient for fujoshi fan service and queerbaiting. Those who don’t want to see it that way can watch it without any problem. And those who wants to think of it as shonen ai also have plenty of treats to fulfill their entertainment quota. Fujoshi’s can ship Renki and Langa to their heart’s content. At the same time, an episode clearly showed he’s interested in girls when he blushed around a random girl on their cruise. That’s how shows like this works ladies and gentlemen. It’s a one for all formula that always works. You can’t say they’re not gay but you can’t prove they are either. I don’t think this show has the balls to make it completely a Yuri on Ice was there to be a second season. Oh well, that’s just how I feel.
I would still recommend a watch if you like sports anime. Don’t expect Haikyuu level of sports or a nuanced slice of life anime though. It’s a little mix of both but with more fantasy and unrealism.

Everything about this show screams mediocrity. It's not very dreadful but it's not very good either. 6/10 is the best rating I could afford.
It's a detective, crime centered story where you have two main leads that have contrasting personality and values. This supposedly core theme didn't matter that much for the show anyway.
There were just too many plot holes and narrative defects that makes this plot impossible to rise above mediocrity.
Although Kato's and Daisuke's relationship dynamics was supposed to be the driving force, it wasn't interesting at all. Both of them pretty much remains the same with no character development.
I understand how
...
they tried to make this show having a deep brilliant mystery of luxury and cop chasing but it's all very scattered and and underwhelming.
I couldn't care about most of the things that happened let alone the cardboard cutout characters. I feel like for a cop show like this it should've packed more energy. This show lacked life.
Daisuke is your rich asshat protagonist but with a sense of justice. His ridiculous actions is what kept the plot interesting and moving forward. But, I felt he lacked depth and his development was very superficial and shallow. I have to agree with others that his VA was quite bad. I did love the voice but the acting was terrible in my opinion. It was so monotonous without any emotions. If he gave a lecture I'd sleep in a minute.
Kato was also a lackluster character. His arc was not convincing at all. He knows he shot the girl in self defense, and his morals seems a bit ridiculous and makes a bad excuse for his character development which ultimately becomes boring and nil. And I don't get it, why exactly is his subordinate refusing to cooperate with him?
Speaking about logic, this show has more plot holes than the craters on the far side of the moon.
Who exactly is the head of the Kambe family?
Why is an important evidence like the photo album be considered useless just because the old lady refused to give it. Isn't it illegal to hide evidence?
If the grandma and Daisuke are the only main controlling heads of the Kambe family wouldn't he have figured this out earlier that she must be involved?
They say Kanbe family is shutting the police and such when it's just basically 2 people?
Who is Suzue Kanbe exactly? and what is her relationship with Daisuke? If she is a relative and relevant to the plot shouldn't there have been some explanation as to who she is. It's not like anyone would become a go to IT assistant in a wealthy billionaire family. And she has the Kanbe name?
And they gave no explanation about HEUSC AI and it's operational behaviors etc.
The other police detectives are useless. Oh and Suzue is there to fill the role of mandatory fanservice, just to give little explanation of behind the scenes while Daisuke and Haru saves the day. Yup, useless. I still don't understand what was all that lingerie shots in the op about. I don't care really but it was not relevant at all as in she never did or was going to do anything remotely seductive or sexy as the OP hints. You would think she would be some femme fatale who does some insane things but 90% of her dialogue is made of one word - Daisuke sama. That's it. After being called a relative by Daisuke, and how the mal describes her as his younger sister, the same time the OP shows Daisuke carrying her in a bridal style, their unexplained relationship for me was extremely uncomfortable and some times apprehensive to watch. Why is incest so stimulating in anime I wouldn't know, just assign a proper character description for her instead of walking between the lines. Either his love interest or a sister, which one is it?
Some random things happen here and there we don't know why and later they don't matter much to the plot anyway.
I liked the mystery family conflict but the execution of it was terrible as if someone didn't know how to make a good layered script. The twists were just thrown in your face and you don't feel the punch. oh wait, because I literally couldn't care for the characters.
They just solved a case but nothing came out of it.
It was really underwhelming. Ngl some of those millionaire gimmicks was just funny because it was just happening just because it can. it wasn't cool it was just funny Bruce wane wannabe.
All in all...
It's only a 11 episodes show, so it was alright for a good entertainment without much brain work, there's fairly good music, eye candy protagonists and some little mandatory fanservice enough not to keep you bored till you find something else to watch.
