If you've read the synopsis you've probably come to the conclusion that this isn't another romance anime with a lot of fluff, cute characters, dream like confessions that anime of this genre usually consists of. Kuzu no Honkai is heavy, all the characters screw up, none of them are "good people" and you'll probably want to slam your head into the closest wall watching them.
Then why should you watch it?
It gives a different take on "romance". Betrayal, unrequited love, cheating. It's so raw that despite hating what the characters do you can't completely condemn them for it since this actually happens in real
...
life too. Though I won't call it completely realistic since it does make the drama over the top, one can't ignore that these characters are so very human with backgrounds that explain every choice they make resonate so soundly with who they are and what they are looking for.
Kuzu no Honkai or "Scums wish" is not an anime for everyone but if you want a different view on romance, one who doesn't shy away from showing the ugly sides of it and how far human desire for love will take a person, this is definitely something for you.
I for once had a difficult time watching it without my blood boiling but won't deny its brilliant execution.

Ever wondered what you should do with your life?
The sheer pressure of making something worthwhile of one's life has probably hit many of us at least one point in life. Maybe that's why Hachiken's struggle hits so close to home.
Maybe that's also why I quickly marathoned every episode hoping that he would find his answer by the end of it all. Though following his journey I together with him discovered that there's other important things that requires your attention and that if you don't force it, the answer will surely come one day. If you think too much about it, you will miss a
...
lot of fun things that you will never be able to get back.
Silver spoon is a light hearted SOL that is fitting for everyone, whether you are interested in agriculture or not the way it present itself to the viewer makes it really interesting.
Together with its seemingly large cast it makes for a hilarious trip through its 12 episodes. It's difficult to not like every single one of them and to certain degrees emphatize with their struggles because it feels so real.
Though a lot happens through the episodes, plot wise not a lot develops and by the end of it, everyone is basically the same. But that's ok, because the charm is the humor, characters and overall light hearted tone that makes Silver spoon a fun, heart warming ride. While you won't come out as a new person after watching it, you will hopefully end it with a smile on your face just like I did as you click on season 2.

Hana yori Dango or "Boys over flowers" is one of the best selling shoujo manga of all time in Japan. It's simple, predictable and to be honest there's nothing new to find for a veteran shoujo reader, yet it's highly enjoyable and to be honest quite well deserved of its popularity.
There's nothing that puts HyD above others in the same category because it really is your typical shoujo manga - poor girl enrolls in a rich high school and accidentally makes the richest guy in school her enemy. Thus her quiet life makes a 360 turn and rich guy also realizes that "oh she's different
...
from others" once he "gets to know her".
That's the start of 244 chapters of love drama that you've surely seen before in another shoujo.
The only thing that sets it apart from others of its kind is probably the two MC's personalities AND relationship. A poor, tomboyish, violent and strong willed girl and a rich, incredibly immature, violent and short tempered guy? It's quite a sight to behold watching the two converse, and also very frustrating at times.
HyD also touches on heavy themes such as attempted rape, abuses and more. The later is meant to be taken jokingly - much like small kids fighting over petty things.
Though I understand if people feel offended since it's not always handled very well.
Hana yori Dango is at it's core just a typical shoujo manga who does what it's supposed to do - entertain the reader. Which I think it has done an amazing job.
If you're looking for an incredibly fun and romantic read - this is the one.
Shut your brain off, don't question too much and just enjoy. :) Because entertaining the reader is where it shines the brightest.

If you're looking for a light-hearted anime with romance and hilarious characters, then you've come to the right place!
The humor in this one is really on point. I found myself smiling, giggling and often laughing out loud at how the comedy was delivered. And the source of my cheeks hurting after smiling so much? Definitely the characters who really are a strong point in this story!
I really enjoyed the way every character was introduced and slowly finding a place in Nozaki-kun's shoujo manga. They are all a source of inspiration for him and ironically, everyone turn to his manga's for life advices and help.
...
The cast is full of life and unique in their own quirky way making it easy for viewers to find their own favorite!
Every character have their own fair share of screen time where they can showcase their bizarre yet hilarious personalities. The amazing cast makes sure there's a lot of space for comedic situations!
This story creates comedy in the most simplest situations making you laugh at it's absurdity and creativity.
While the OST's were very few and were reused many times with variations, I still enjoyed it's light tone. I only wish they had made a little more on that department.
The OP and ED are no masterpieces but still enjoyable in their own cute way.
I found myself enjoying this one more than what I had anticipated. I can assure you that Gekkan shoujo Nozaki-kun can at least put a smile on your face. Especially the story's cutie - Sakura will definitely make you smile and feel like "aaaw"!

This is my first review on MAL and I'm pretty excited that it's about my probably favorite finished manga of 2014!
Let's start!
Story - 10
Ken Kaneki, your average shy and bookloving collegestudent gets plunged into the world of the creatures called ghouls - who feed on humans. He learns of the life as a ghoul and being the kind and righteous guy he is, he cannot ignore nor accept the fact that they kill humans to devour them. But little does he know what it feels like to be driven to insanity by your own hunger, and little does he know of what it
...
really means to be a ghoul.
We get all the information needed to understand what kind of creatures the ghouls are at first, but only enough to still keep them as somewhat mysterious beings. As the story progresses we see our main protagonist's struggle to remain "human" and the psychological pressure he receives from that.
On the other side we have the humans who are the prey of ghouls but there's also investigators who hunt ghouls because of the danger they poses against the human population. Interesting is that we can see it from the viewpoints of both sides, their struggles and the reason behind their hate for each other.
All I can say is that this story was planned very much in details and a lot of time must have been spent of developing the story, which is always a big plus!
Art - 9
The first few chapters I found the art at some points somewhat messy. Especially the action scenes were very difficult to actually interpret, like is that an arm and did he just punch him or what etc.
It doesn't happen too often and you can actually skip those pages and won't miss anything important. It gradually gets better I promise, which is why it didn't bother me too much later.
But the art is perfect to actually display the setting which is horror and mystery.
Characters - 10
This is where TG really shines!
Kaneki is your shy-bookworm-too kind for his own good kind of guy who literally get's thrown into the world of ghouls. His extremely kind and righteous personality is not fit for the world of a ghoul and yet he can nothing but comply with it. We get to follow his life and what it means to be a ghoul and... are they really what everyone think they are?
You get introduced to a lot of characters and most of them remain relevant until the end which not many stories can do. What I hate is when you get introduced to a character and then suddenly after he/she has done her part of her role she suddenly just disappears!??
Thank god that doesn't happen in TG.
There's not many characters who play minor roles, a lot of them have significant roles and if I were you I would pay close attention to their actions and words because Ishida has really planned this story in details!!
We get a lot of background informations to many of them which gives the characters so much more depth.
But the best part of the cast in this story are their character developments!!
Especially Kaneki's one of the best character developments I've seen in a manga and I'm not even exaggerating. Truly impressive. That must have landed him a good spot on my fav list of manga characters.
Enjoyment - 10
It's been a long time since I last stumbled upon such a great manga (and I've read many), truly magnificent. This story has it all, action, horror, mystery, comedy, romance, drama and the psychological things brought up really makes you think. This was just really good, hands down.
Overall - 10
I don't have much to complain about in this story. All I can say is that you should read it yourself and then you'll understand what I've been talking about.
Funny is that, as you re-read it you will always find something new, maybe a clue that tells you a little bit about the future events, it is THAT amazing and well-planned.
Oh yeah, did I mention that the author is a master at drawing parallels? Because he is.
This is definitely a story that will keep you at the edge of your chair until the very end. :)
