I went in hoping for something good, but I was only given disappointment.
Trust me, I tried having high hopes but this is just... Bad...

Mainly the story, its a 5/10 tbh.
They stretched it out for 22 eps which was the first thing but then again, its obvious nobody would think to blame vampires.
But then you have the retarded monk, who, in my opinion, might be there to show us why we should sympathize with the Shiki.
Which is again, bs, because his idea is basically "Shiki need blood to survive, its how humans eat chicken or cow". okay but... why would it be wrong if we killed ... them before they killed us? To which he doesn't reply and keeps yapping the same message over and over god damnit.

Art was cool, so was animation, expected from 2010.

Music... the piano fit really well so I'd say it was a 7/10.

But yeah, main beef was with the story which was just horrible,

Okay so, at first I saw a dude making bread, simple enough.... right?
WELL HAH FUCK YOU NO!

Instead of some neat little anime about a baker making bread with a small harem and some comedic encounters we got this weird shit.
Lemme explain,
After the first ep, it went down a path that is pretty okay ig.
Yk, the normal slight action bits.
But here's where they messed up, they first showed his backstory which was literally that "he ended on the shore", now that obviously is not enough to base almost half the plot on that.
Now, another issue in the plot was about how they suddenly progressed to ... a mecha anime in the last few eps, like yea we were hinted in the start but what the flip was that?!

Oh and did I mention the fact the "Rick" was just a sad ass dude who thought about nothing but his purpose in life for like 4 eps ;-;
Aside from the useless plot, animation was neat and so was the boss battle (the visuals that is).
Music was nice, the other aspects were good too but lord the plot let me down so much.

Warning: This is my first review and I also don't have a lot of knowledge of the author so idk much about their "style".

Anyways, on with the actual review!
First off, great style (its the normal one tbh) but it just can't be replicated by new anime because of the amount of more creative freedom studios get.

This is one of those kinda basic stories but thats not surprising given that this is from the 80's.
Even then, this story was decent and deserves a 6 or 7 rating.

The visuals..... well..... they were scary and obviously complemented the horror genre.
yk.... pixelated fuzzy animation usually fits quite well with ... the genre in my opinion.
Although, the animation was kinda eh but it wasn't bad, it was fine :)

No real music aside from the ep and beginning so no real comment on that.

My real issue is with the character, no real development or change... but hey. can't do much in 40 minutes.... and thank the lord he wasn't a loser.

So yeah, overall, decent anime, 7/10... nothing too ground breaking but it shouldn't go in the trash either.
