The creators either tried too hard to make something complex out of poor ideas or they came up with an idea that was so complex they failed to materialize it. Hitori no Shita is definitely not an anime you die waiting for a new episode every week, but you do die waiting for something interesting to happen while watching it.

After a thrilling episodic anime, Kuroneko Yoru no Bouken comes like a dessert, keeping the same flavors the previous meals had.

The story is meant to be both funny and serious. Given the fact that the MC is a cat, we get to see the 'human' side of the spies from the outside, when they’re not squeezing out their 396.5 IQ solving Enigma's secrets, memorising maps in two seconds or hiding their identity. That’s not all the story has to offer in two short episodes of 4 minutes each. I was pleasantly surprised to feel the same vibes of mystery I felt watching the anime.

It's so sad to see how people misunderstood this masterpiece because well known names were used separately to whom they belong to. Shisha no Teikoku is part of a series based on novels written by Project Itoh ("Genocidal Organ", "Harmony", "Shisha no Teikoku/The Empire of Corpses"). Unfortunately the 3rd novel - "The Empire of Corpses" - was finished after Satoshi Itoh's death (2009) using a few of his ideas he managed to write about his future story.

No matter who the enemy might seem to be (zombies, titans, mutant bees, flying pigs), the real enemy for humans will always be humanity itself. I believe kabane were only a tool meant to emphasize that. I'm not gonna lie, I'm not very bright and this review's not gonna be the most intelligent thing for you to read. Just a humble review for humble people interested in giving Koutetsujou no Kabaneri a shot.
