Kuuchuu Buranko

Kuuchuu Buranko talks about mental problems in an eccentric and bizarre way, almost as if the show was making fun of such problems. The delicate way of dealing with certain issues is worthy of appreciation and is similar to the way that the protagonist of Mononoke deals with the traumas and nightmares of the characters in his respective show. Both take on the difficult task of making emotions see in a unique way but with an artistic magic touch. Both manage to tell emotional and traumatic stories in a way that gives a little magic and simplicity to the chaos that many of the many characters in the multiple stories carry within. Exposure, hopeless, emotional, despair, understanding. Those are several of the words that can describe both shows.

The protagonists are analytical, thoughtful and have similar personalities. It may seem like a recommendation that from a certain distance does not make much sense to some people, but from the moment you listen to one of the protagonists it is evident the multiple personality characteristics that both share. The stories may be different in their most trivial characteristics, but deep down they both try to express the thoughts of what loneliness can be, under the eyes of two characters who are asocial and that at the same time they are also trying to understand themselves. Hachiman and Watashi may be somewhat eccentric, pessimistic and cynical but that is what makes their views of what surrounds them so interesting and fascinating to see. "who criticize the world, usually criticize themselves" I think that phrase sums up pretty well the mere idea of both protagonists and therefore of what makes the charm of each of the stories. Everyday life seen from the eyes of the one who sees everything from the outside. Someone who understands that being understood is not something that is guaranteed in this contract called life.

They both look like a nightmare. The artistic style of both is similar, the tone is tetric, melancholic and of dark characteristics. Both are surprisingly pure and makes you think with the small details of the various symbols of the story. Both have a nostalgic atmosphere and full of emotional fragility. It should also be noted that they are relatively similar in their style when telling the story, they do not take you by the hand or pretend to help you understand the different ideas they have. After all, that is your task as an observer of the art that these works have. Do not expect something simple to understand, just let them take your breath away.

Isshuukan Friends.

Both take place in a school where a shy girl can't make friends and a boy want to help her. They are very emotional and sweet with a calm and beatiful art style. Also they combine romance with comedy in a pleasant and realistic manner. I think they represent perfectly what is a pure and young love, Isshuukan Friends focuses more in the boy perspective and Kimi ni Todoke in the girl perspective. The strange sensation of the first love is something emotional, nostalgic, at times sad ... but I would lie to myself if I said I did not smile like a fool with these anime.

D-Frag!

The context is very different because D-frag take place in a school and Senyuu in a fantasy world but they have the same kind of silly and over the top humor with weird characters and one guy (the protagonist) who don't get what the hell is going on.

The main characters Tanaka and Renge are very similar because both are lazy, clueless and quiet persons. They are funny in a unique way because they see the world in a different way. Both are simple persons who don't realize anything. The atmosphere in both shows is calm and relaxing and the type of comedy is very similar because both have awkard moments, unique characters interaction and a lot of misunderstandings.
