Tldr: Best comedy I've read since SpyxFamily, really enjoyable. I had my doubts with the first two chapters but I'm glad it wasn't weird enough to put me off. Great story, great action, amazing characters, great romance (?). A genuinely unique story. You'll know if you like it within the first 4 chapters or so - the story moves at a nice pace so you can know if its for you pretty quick.
Story - This genre (exorcism/occult/action) isn't rare but the story itself and the execution is probably some of the best you'll find. The protags and antags have depth which moves the story in
...
novel ways - keeps you hooked. 10/10
Art - Its really nice - reminds me of Insomniacs After School andthe newer generation of shounen - works even better since it suits the MCs allows for enough unique character design. The fights are nice too - though not spectacular. The monsters though, are really well done. 9/10
Characters - Really good. 10/10
Enjoyment - Its one of the best I've read in a year or two. The last few chapters especially were hilarious
Overall: Do yourself a favor and check it out. If you want to read a manga you're not gonna find many better ones.

I want to preface this by saying I think that Afterschool War Activities is really special in a lot of ways. For me its one of the few, probably only, stories that did a school setting right. It actually feels like school, an average classroom. I didn't realize it till I had read this just how real you could write it to be. It also managed to juggle its large cast extremely well - you don't really feel like anyone or any event loses focus cause of the size of the cast - the distance it takes from each of the characters is just right.
...
Story: I don't believe that the reader can pass judgement about the direction of the story, but I can safely say that I was satisfied all the way till the final chapter. But the way the story was told, the events that were described, the pacing, and the atmosphere created were all done without any mistakes. For atmosphere, the author never lets the readers mind stray far from the mind from the average character. Seeing everything through their eyes, and nothing more, means that characters can really shine which imo is the point of this. It does a really good job at that too.
Art: I think the art is great and it fits well. Its not super detailed nor is it uniquely good in how it conveys a characters feelings or anything else, but it never lets up on conveying important information and it meshes well with the POV of the characters - I think a better way to put it is that it feels like you're looking at someone's memories. Its not spectacular, but its uniqueness fits well and is interesting.
Character: This is where the story really shines. You are shown just enough about them, you can understand why they do things but not their inner thoughts, you get to see the evolution of a character and not the somewhat contrived "growth", when they argue you're not expected to agree with the first counter - it continues and feels natural, you get a sense of how the troublemakers are troublesome (or not) from a broader POV. Its little things and big things but I don't think I've seen it elsewhere and it does make a world of difference in how interactions and change comes across to and are interpreted by the reader. In a lot of ways this is not using the medium how its normally used - i.e. you never really have a lot of access to inner thoughts and even if you do its usually one-sided so you cant really resolve/understand things. Its more like someone filmed this imo(the do film btw), and I do think this is perfect for a live-action adaptation, but thats besides the point. I can't say anythinhg too specific cause it might spoil stuff but what I can say that characters in Afterschool War Activities are special, well-done, and you won't be dissapointed.
Enjoyment: Its become one of my all-time favorites. I tried to take my time with this but the story was too good and I finished in just two days. I gave it a 10/10 and I even wrote a review. =͟͟͞͞( °∀° )☛ Go and read it!

This is one of the most excellent thrillers I have ever read. It keeps you hooked throughout the whole thing and will always keep you on your toes.
I have to say what makes this series shine if the characters for sure. The MC, the father, is really a nice guy. He is a bit timid in the very beginning but he genuinely cares for his daughter and will honestly do everything in his power to make sure that no harm comes to her. His interests as a mystery novelist was a nice touch but he is character who does seem smart enough to pull off
...
what is depicted. My personal favorite character though is the mother. She is loyal and cares about her daughter as much as her husband. From the very beginning her trust in her husband is shown to be pretty high. She can think on her toes, but the author does not indulge in any superhuman feats - she is the same as her husband - someone who trusts her spouse, wants to protect her kid, and will do everything in her power to keep her family safe. The daughter is yet another great character - not because she is particualrly virtuous, though you can't really say she is a bad person in anyway, but because the story doesn't try to adjust her to the plot. It doesn't take her long to realize what her parents are doing for her and she reacts in kind. The rest of the cast is pretty fantastic too but its getting too long. The characters along with the plot are the strong points on this manga.
The plot is excellent as well, realistic 50 something man with a college age daughter kills likely dangerous boyfriend to prevent his daughter from coming to harm. The pact throughtout is very well controlled, its a slow burn that will masterfullly build up tension. Covering up the crime and dealing with those who got tangled up in it - the story takes everything at the pace it should and nothing is forced. The reader isn't thrown for any loops with the logic - everything makes sense and the MC isn't some psychic who can figure out everything from an out of place book or something. You get to see all the stress that comes with planning every step of this out and the real danger in what a misspeak or uncaught error could bring. Those trying to catch the crime stick to their own motivations for doing so and the opponents that the father must face are not all the same or on a tiered hierarchy - they possess differing levels of intelligence and drive. Tosu, the father, must keep thinking and keep paying attention - creating plans and contingency plans for almost every action and likely reaction. In terms of coincidence - while there is some, it never favors the MC, you almost want to ask the author to give him a break at points but really its not unrealistic either. Thing can go wrong and the MC is an amateur. There are a lot of variables, and there is a lot the MC wants to keep hidden even from his daughter - a smart and kind decision imo. There is one part of the story, that while I do like, isn't explained from the get go fully. Its the wifes character - it makes sense given the consequences to perhaps cover the murder, but for her to endure the level she did is only explained by her own family and past with Tosu. Its a more than satisfying explanation and one that also sheds light onto why Tosu treats his own daughter how he does. Afterall it is the reason why they are in this mess to begin with. All the characters as mentioned above, are full and have their own personalitiles, pasts, and motivations and all act in a reasonable manner. Thats not to say some of the characters are exceptional in some way, but just that it isn't something the author pulls out of his ass. The MC did catch a break, but really given how fully he was dedicating himself he would have caught something. Lucky for him it did turn out to be there, but even here the author did show that the MC had a basic idea of what would needed to be done had nothing come out of that encounter.
If I had to say something - this should probably have ended around chapter 50. The continuation of the story isn't so much a rehashing (don't worry) but an afterstory caused by a bad accident.
The art definitely gets the job done, and it really shines in character design and expression. Without this the story would not have been as impactful.
10/10 - A very enjoyable weekend read, there is quite a few chapters so you won't finish it terribly quickly but its not so long that it'll take more than a couple of days. Highly recommend

This is a surprisingly underrated manga. I only gave it a shot because of a recommendation from a friend but didn't have high hopes even halfway into the first chapter.
But it was great. While not unique it does a very good job and if nothing else I can say you'll probably enjoy it. Story is decent, its not unique but its not predictable. There is a logical flow and continuity to events and charecter development, at the same time pacing it very well controlled and there aren't any places where the it seems to lack in terms of story to tell.
Charecters - even
...
though the MC is just a 'usual slum kid' what sets him apart is the way they handle the rest of his character - he has no weird backstory, he isn't stuck with weird personaility quirks, he isn't oblivious to things for the sake of plot or comedy. His motivations, will, moral sense are all in line someone from the slums - though he isn't the best of guys what he does makes sense and given where he is its not unreasonable to excuse those actions. The author has no intention of showing him in an extreme moral light, there is usually good reason one way or another for what he does without creating artifical tension or reaction from the reader. His emotions and distress are also logical, he feels guilt over thing he should actually feel guilty for - not pity. The author is pretty precise in how he shows emotions.
The art is really wonderful, go check it out for youself is the only way to put it. That being said if I have to say something here the lack of originality in what the author does and doesn't draw comes through - there aren't too many clever angles or interesting panels - its all pretty clear cut. There are times too where the dialogue seems a bit long due to the 'crowded' nature of the panels but this manga tries to show and not tell where ti can and there hasn't been anything so far that I would consider 'worthless' in any of the text bubbles so far - like I mentioned earlier there is a good continuity to events and logical flow to just about everything in the manga - the relatively longer dialogue helps with that (its not that long anyway, just heard others mention it).
I absolutely enjoyed it, theres only 15 chapters out at the moment - but it felt more like 30. The chapters are long and it keeps your attention for sure. If I had one thing to say it would have been best to spend just a little time explaning the structure of the world since the MC also seems somewhat unaware at first. A map or something would be nice to see where the events happen.

A wonderfully beautiful and wholesome story that really feels and looks like somesones highschool life. Characters talk, act, and think ways that are both surprising and realistic. The art, though it doesn't look special, really adds a **lot** to the how you understand the story and tone. What and how the author chooses to show you the story, it is very well thought out - really. The pacing of the story, though it continously develops, never feels like anything is being rushed. Story-wise its a high-school romance, but it tries its best to honestly explore that and ML/FL's insomnia are treated as integral to that.

Sadly underapprieciated on this site.
This manga is very similar to others that deal with fantasy/magic and mortality - Fumetsu no Anata e and Sousou no Frieren for example.
Charecters are nice, but the reader will only see the parts of them that are relevant to the story. Its not a bad thing and you can get a sense of what they are like in other situations. The characters seems alive, with their own reasons and desires. Even those who are close to William don't stop showing this. Events will change a charecters personality in a scene, something that others might consider to be "acting out
...
of charecters" lmao.
The story is wonderful, there is a definite ebb and flow. Chapters end, there is a sense that stuff happened and things will still happen at all points throughout. There isn't a larger grand narrative that William must follow. His past shapes his future but he deals with stuff as they come, its unpredictable for the most part.
Art is nice, there is a little bit of improvement with the newer chapters but overall its enjoyable and the charecter designs certainly stick out as unique and interesting. Fight scenes are also done alright. Nothing detracts from the other aspects of the story.
Its an immensly enjoyable story, the charecters and the journey are all very fun to follow.
The story shifts with William, him growign and changing will lead to actual change - new chapters in his story that are different from the past ones. For his reincarnation actual memories are limited - he feels a sense of loss and regret strongly and feeling guilty for how he treated his family in the past. That is the extent of that, his relative maturity from a young age though doesn't mean that he isn't a kid. He simply tackles things earnestly as a result and tries to understand others so that those feelings won't be repeated. Despite what one might think from others 'tropes' are limited (there is nothing wrong with tropes as long as they don't make for a bad story)

This is a very enjoyable manga. Its a top tier example of Isekai/time-travel. I'm very surprised I hadn't found this earlier.
The story is very fun and engaging, and the characters are interesting (though not really unique, but thats not a problem). The art isn't going to wow anybody but its detailed enough that it won't detract from the experience for almost anybody.
The MC is likeable and someone you won't really get tired of, its harder to screw up a female MC in an Isekai I guess. Though - even considering she is an agricultural student - she is still in highschool and her having
...
the skills she does is unusual, though not totally impossible. Sticklers for historical accuracy will notice some anachronism but again for almost anybody you will be able to main your suspension of disbelief.
If I had to point to one thing this series does really well, its that it maintains some semblence of realism with charecter interactions and the world the MC has dropped into. Its not hardcore at all, but you won't suspect that th author is using the uncommon setting as smokescreen to distract from a bad story full of bad tropes, fan service, unreasonable characters. Something that is special (unfortunately) is that there is no romance in this manga (Spoiler: the only guy who is interested in the MC is a bit of a joke it seems he will be forever a gag).
Highly recommend this, very disspointed it only had some 30 odd chapters when I started reading.

When I saw the cover art caught my eye before I recognized the author. Personally I think the art is quite beautiful, but a significant departure from his previous works and some could be put off by that.
Besides the art the world building is alright - nothing special. In some parts the way it introduces you to new elements can be a bit blunt. This could be a problem with the translation I was using but other facets of the manga make me doubtful I can place that much blame(!) on the translation.
Story is average. I couldn't put up with it for more
...
than 12 chapters but till that point it felt pretty hollow, witht the main charecter not being fleshed out enough and not enough time being dedicated to the scenes in between fights and setting to figure out why things are going the way they are. In fact there isn't much time spent on building scale in the world - which is something the manga seems naturally set up to do.
Still enjoyed it, though not sure that would've been true if I decided to go through the rest of the chapters. Has potential, and makes for relatively quick reading. Do I recommend checking it out if you like the art or the author? Yes, absolutely. Perhaps the story will get better in the coming issues - it seemed to be heading in a different direction and started to pace itself better.

Perfect example of a hidden gem.
Story 9/10:
Story is perfectly enjoyable, kind of slice-of-lifey. The pacing is done just right. Other reviews mention this: this isn't heavy on action. Instead the feel is more of an slice-of-life adventure. Love it.
Art 10/10:
If your not used to seeing different styles of animation then it may be a little odd, but give it some time and you'll come to accept and hopefully enjoy it. Its *well executed, consistent, and fairly creative (the colors used are less so, but match well and I guess that's what matters more). Really enjoyed seeing a unique animation style that didn't feel "experimental"
...
(not that there's anything wrong with that, but for some reasons they then can't seem to shy away from somewhat confusing mind games and narrative funkyness - this kinda show won't work with either). Love it.
Sound 10/10:
Never feels super high budget but always sounded great. You can tell from the very first episode that the sound design was meticulous - and they did a good job. The music - and this I feel is a little rare even for shows that do sound well - is well hidden but still carries a lot of tone/style/etc in every scene. I need to emphasize *very well hidden, its almost hard to notice in the more calm scenes when it blends with the other sounds.
Characters 9/10:
Can't spoil much here. Not too many complaints - nice, realistic enough, unique, understandable characters. No wacky ideologies, no weird meme beliefs, no dumb tropes, no not-so-dumb tropes, etc. Everyone just feels - normal. And that's wonderful. Love it.
Enjoyment 10/10:
In case anybody reading this couldn't already tell, i Love it.
Overall 10/10:
Does a lot pretty dang well. Falls outside most of the other anime I've watched so far in feel and content, and even a lot of the manga. Its a little hard to believe its an anime but also has such a nostalgic "anime" feel. Feel like the 2000's - best period for these kinda shows idk why.
