The Disney Content Showcase 2024 event in Singapore announced a new anime adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo's Cat's Eye manga on Thursday, revealing a teaser promo and teaser visual (pictured). The anime will premiere exclusively on Disney+ in 2025.

Singer-songwriter Ado is covering the titular opening of the 1983 television anime by Anri as the theme song, previewed in the teaser promotional video.

The action comedy manga was serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump from 1981 to 1985 and collected into 18 volumes. Shueisha later republished a ten-volume collector's edition in 1994 and a paperback edition from 1995–1996. Tokuma Shoten reprinted a complete edition in 2005-2006. Cat's Eye has a cumulative 20 million of its compiled volumes in circulation.

Tokyo Movie Shinsha adapted the manga into a 73-episode television anime that aired from Summer 1983 to Summer 1985. The Lupin III vs. Cat's Eye (Lupin the 3rd vs Cat's Eye) crossover anime premiered exclusively on Amazon's Prime Video in January 2023, commemorating both the 50th anniversary of Lupin III and 40th anniversary of Cat's Eye anime series.

Monthly Comic Zenon ran a remake manga written by Sakura Nakameguro from October 2010 to January 2014, featuring illustrations by Shingo Asai. Coamix released the manga in eight volumes. The publisher also releases Hojo's original manga in English on the Manga Hot service.

Synopsis
Cat's Eye follows the adventures of the three Kisugi sisters—Hitomi, Rui, and Ai—who run a charming café by day but transform into a trio of master art thieves by night. Known as Cat's Eye, the sisters leave calling cards at their heist locations, taunting the authorities with their precision and skill. Their ultimate goal isn't wealth but to recover the artworks of their missing father, Heinz, a famed art collector whose collection was lost during the Nazi era.

As they evade capture, the stakes grow higher with Hitomi's romantic entanglement with Toshio, a determined police officer who is not only investigating the Cat's Eye case but also happens to be her unsuspecting fiancé. Blending thrilling heists, intricate family bonds, and a touch of romantic comedy, Cat's Eye masterfully weaves daring action with emotional stakes.

NOOOOOOO DON'T BLOCK ME MASTER

@ChrisTries Why are you sounding like you're trying to be an internet tough guy, and then end up sounding like MarioTehPlumber being a retard, just because somebody call him a "crybaby?"

Looks like you really don't want to speak with words beyond speaking Retard-ish.

Very well, then. Since you're just here to try to annoy the fuck out of me (And failing, mind you), you deserve to be blocked for being annoying and retarded.

@Diogo_Gomes_1995

Who's an edgy boy? who's an edgy boy? You are? yes you are! come here let me pet you

3 hours ago by ChrisTries

@ChrisTries I went more outside and work at my job every day and harder than you do. I don't know what the hell you've been up to, but i'm pretty sure you must've spent all day masturbating to shitty waifus from Hibike! Euphonium, before getting assmad at me for giving my rants.

Tell me you are retarded without saying you are retarded.

@Diogo_Gomes_1995
we get it chud, you do not go outside

4 hours ago by ChrisTries

@ChrisTries No. You are the one who started by telling me to "Go outside, hurr durr", because you didn't like what i had to say about Disney.

Why are you retards coming here to tell me this shit, everytime i make myself a reasonable rant about remakes and Disney? Is it because you're an woketard? Maybe a Disney fanboy? Or probably just retarded and just wanted to insult me for no reason?

@Diogo_Gomes_1995
angry? you are the one insulting and calling others slurs, but sure, i'm the one with the problem chud

@Diogo_Gomes_1995 I am talking with facts, you are just speculating things. Like i said, a lot of japanese studios already "censored" his material and have nothing to do wit platforms. Disney+ have a lot of content with "censorable" things.

@malvarez1 NNS (Nippon TV), the Network that the Ranma remake is airing on, I don't think has ever shown uncensored nudity.

Yikes, the amount of dumb posting here is insane. I'm gonna assume this guy is a troll and leave it at that.

FWIW, Ranma's censoring probably had nothing to do with Netflix. Heck, many Netflix originals feature outright nudity; the censorship was probably on the Japanese side.

@ChrisTries You're right. It is peak.

PEAK. GARBAGE.

I honestly don't know why did you bother wasting your time and breath telling me to go outside, while getting angry at me for literally speaking the truth, other than being an mentally retarded faggot with no critical thinking or common sense, and just felt like just acting like an retard like you always were.

@aburame_ernesto Don't you even get the point i'm trying to cross? I'm pointing out the FACT that Disney is going to do the same thing to Japanese studios, as how Netflix did when they decided to force MAPPA to censor Ranma.

There is NO fate that Cat's Eye is ever gonna be released uncensored. Anyone that puts its trust on a shitty american kiddy cartoon company, known for literally destroying Marvel, Star Wars and even Disney's legacy, itself, that wanted to see this shit company bring back the same charm and joy as the old anime shows from the 80s and 90s, are nothing more than a bunch of fools, who don't even know what the fuck is going on at the anime industry.

Hell! You might as well have SOYNY buy Kadokawa just to ruin your favorite anime, and you guys will still defend these shit companies for ruining your favorite anime shows. And i won't be surprised even in the slightest.

@Diogo_Gomes_1995
Im not sure why peak being in my favorites says anything about censorship, but alright

@Diogo_Gomes_1995 Imagine still watching anitubers in 2024, let alone Chibi Reviews of all people, who's well known for posting clickbait to generate views because he can't be bothered to actually put any effort into his videos.

7 hours ago by animegamer245

@Diogo_Gomes_1995 But that doesn't have anything to do with Disney+. The City Hunter movies were also "censored" and they wasnt made for any platform; so the problem are the japanese studios itself. As you can see, Disney+ isn't the problem, and this it's something that can happen with any series in any platform

9 hours ago by aburame_ernesto

@aburame_ernesto More like: Have you even noticed the pattern that's going on with the remakes, lately?

If you've seen Ranma 1/2 remake that MAPPA has made, that show got censored compared to the 80s version and even the manga, itself. Although it is from Netflix's part, it doesn't still change the fact that the same thing that's happening to Ranma 1/2 is also going to happen to Cat's Eye. I'm very sure of it, because i've known about these garbage american corporations and their schemes of forcing Japanese studios to censor themselves for these so-called "wider audience."

Always excited for more old anime remake. Concerned cause you know but still hopeful.

@Diogo_Gomes_1995 Have you seen the anime they have in their catalog? They are far from being censored. Those are the facts; the other are just speculations

@aburame_ernesto

I hope this helps you.

@malvarez1 You're saying like Disney would never do wrong with Anime. And yet, look what happened with Tokyo Revengers when it got to later seasons. The hype got completely dead ever since Disney adquired the rights to it and did nothing about the show. Which is why nobody even bothered talking about it.

Plus, Disney themselves had promised that they are going to censor the shit out of anime for the sake of crying pussies that hate sex and violence.

People have been pointing out about Disney's schemes to ruin anime and it's why we hate this company with a burning passion.
