Manga 'Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!' Gets TV Anime

Aniplex opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Syundei's Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! (Go For It, Nakamura!) manga on Friday, revealing a commemorative illustration (pictured) by the original creator.

Syundei serialized the boys love manga in Opera from December 2014 to August 2016. The Motto Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!! (Go for It Again, Nakamura!) sequel began in June 2017. Akane Shinsha published the original manga and the sequel in May 2017 and August 2021 and released a new edition of each on August 16.

Seven Seas Entertainment licensed both manga in English in 2017 and 2021 and released the first volume in July 2018, followed by the second volume in July 2022.

Synopsis
Okuto Nakamura is a timid and gloomy-looking student who cherishes only two things in this world: his pet octopus and his kind-hearted classmate, Aiki Hirose. Ever since the school entrance ceremony, Nakamura has admired his jovial classmate, albeit from a distance due to his poor social skills. After mustering up all the coursage within him, he finally decides to talk to Hirose.

During this first attempt to make contact, an instinctive mistake turns the idea of friendship into a distant dream, as he creates a hilarious impression on his crush. At school, students are expected to cooperate on numerous activities together, meaning Nakamura gets to spend extra time with Hirose. Given these opportunities, can he successfully redeem himself and accomplish his goal of becoming good friends with Hirose? [Written by MAL Rewrite]

@zedtronic Haven't listened to the drama CD (wasn't even aware that there was one), but Kappei Yamaguchi as Nakamura is a good casting choice! Hope the anime keeps him as Nakamura as well, but for some reason I get the feeling the VAs might be different.

Agreed. "Kieta Hatsukoi" absolutely needs an anime adaptation. It's either that and/or "Blue Flag" that deserves an adaptation next.

I'm excited. Can you tell I'm excited? Because I am. VERY. Also, I hope to God they use the same seiyuu as the drama CD. I need Kappei Yamaguchi as Nakamura, I don't care, that's just how things are supposed to be.

@bucciest could also be possible they just decide to have only 8 - 10 episodes to it, it happens (see shoushimin series and suicide squad isekai this season, both 10 episodes only)

@Kaikaidou Yeah, it would've made more sense if this would be a movie. Feels like with the series being only volume (excluding the sequel) that they'll have to write up some new content to fill even a 12-episode runtime. Not that I'm complaining. It'll be great if they get Syundei on board and I hope that the anime-original stuff really adds to the story.

THE WAY I FUCKING GASPED AND HAD TO IMMEDIATELY LOG ON TO COMMENT. I did recently see that the sequel is on hiatus, which was slightly disappointing but not surprising since there hadn't been updates for a while, but to find out that the original series will be getting an anime adaptation was not something I would've ever expected. Wow, this is great to hear. I like the manga on its own and it's good enough for me, but it's rare for a BL series that I give a damn about to actually get an anime and anime does shine more light on a series than it would've gotten otherwise. "Ganbare! Nakamura-kun!!" deserves that spotlight.
