An official website opened for a television anime adaptation of Paru Itagaki's Sanda manga and revealed a teaser visual (pictured) on Thursday. The anime is being produced by animation studio Science SARU.

Itagaki (Beastars) began serializing the action mystery manga in Weekly Shounen Champion magazine in July 2021. Akita Shoten shipped the 14th volume on June 7.

Synopsis
The story starts with Sanda, a second year middle school student, getting attacked with a kitchen knife by his classmate Fuyumura. While Sanda couldn't make sense of the situation at first, he gradually came to believe that Fuyumura's actions were just mean acts stemming off from the latter having a peculiar puberty phase. But that is all a misunderstanding. Fuyumura actually suspects that Sanda is the descendant of a certain lineage. (Source: MU)

Is that some extreme version of Santa Claus?

not exactly a gun, but an attack nonetheless.

I see signs another future mappa. Original president stepped down and new one starts picking up loads of projects of high profile shows.

Been meaning to read this every since it started but the characters sorta look like beasts which feels weird. Anyway looking forward to the anime.

science saru only has 50 employees so they are a small studio compared to ufotable and kyoto animation and mappa that have 200+ employees

lets see they are doing
dandadan 2024-2025
ghost in the shell 2026
sanda (maybe 2026 too or 2027)

so they can do all that on a healthy production time or schedule as long as they do not announced more

@EcchiGodMamster by the looks of it, the manga has action and some sexual stuff, probably teen horniness. And yeah, main girl attacks with a kitchen knife in the beginning and she's kinda yandere.

@Catalano

wait, is this implying a girl is trying to kill the MC?

aite... im watching this....

@Sondfer TOHO doesn't make passion project ?

Jul 10, 2024 10:25 AM by ZXEAN

Toho announced the buyout in June, it doesn't work that fast. The project has been greenlit a long time ago probably before Toho even approached Saru. Whatever they'll do with the studio, we'll be only able to see in few years - before that they'll be still making projects that they got contracted before Toho acquisition. Gits also isn't a part of the transaction.

Stop overreacting guys.

Science Saru was not so good with working enviroment since Yuasa retired from managing position. But TOHO IMHO is one of the better production companies out there. They normally make sure their projects are on schedule.

@Sondfer I know, I commented on that news :D. Well, I've never been a fan of this studio, but I can understand the theoretical disappointment of people if instead of the new Devilman Crybaby and Heike Monogatari we get quality, but ordinary anime. A bit reminiscent of the current Shaft and PAWORKS.

Who knows? I'm just theorizing, but Yuasa have stepped down from the president's position and have been inactive for sime time now.
But i imagine that TOHO didnt buy them just to fund their passion projects.

Jul 10, 2024 9:34 AM by Sondfer

@Sondfer So they technically stopped being a passion project studio and became just another workhorse?

Jul 10, 2024 9:24 AM by RobertBobert

@Rammelbips
TOHO bought them, so Science SARU is now in the production hell just like anyone else (probably (redacted here)).

From the creator of Beastars and has no furries?

Science Saru is on a roll with their new series.
