Manga adaptations based to Shinkai Makoto's movies have been very rewarding and practically obligatory reads in the past. There where the movies have been simplistic feel-good experiences that are -arguably doing their job - but still aren't much more than pretty to look at, the manga alternatives have been pushing the characters and story much further: offering the real emotional content.
Voices of a Distant Star manga build an incredible melancholic atmosphere with powerful, bittersweet conclusion. 5 centimeters per second manga, on the other hand, continued the story much further, introduced a whole new aspect to the narrative, and utterly focused on character feelings. Kimi

go watch the movie. The manga is the same with the movie, with some few additional scene that were cut from the film. if u read this b4 watching the movie, you are doing a disservice. Because the movie was the true superior adaptation. The visual and sounds of the movie will add layer and depth to the experience. More than reading the manga will ever done. But if you finish the movie and like it i suggesting reading it on your free-time. Because it has some scene that were cut from the film, but sadly if your looking for a OVA or extended

This manga is totally same as the movie and light novel.
8/10 story - Two teenagers, totally stranger to each other living in two different places starts to body swap and a melodramatic and romantic story sprinkled with a bit comedy follows. 8/10 art- above average, the few color pages that this manga have are very beautifully drawn and pleasing to look at at just like the movie. 7/10 chatterers - not much to say they are just average, seriously.our main guy is a shy boy who is nervous to ask out his coworker while our main girl is a country bumpkin who has father issues and ... Really enjoy time travelling stories.
Beautiful story written in only three volumes. Read it all in no more than two hours. Perfect if you want to read something in a short time but with a good story development. I would really like to know more about the protagonist’s past life. Maybe adding a prequel volume were you can learn more about their stories would be great. Art 10/10 !! Great design, beautiful drawings specially the landscapes where you can appreciate the contrast between city and country. The manga really makes you want to watch the anime movie to see every scenery in detail and colored. Sep 21, 2021
It's a nice manga, and that's all. It has the same simple but effective story written by Shinkai for the movie, with practically no additional moments. And the art of Ranmaru Kotone is pretty nice, but nothing compared with the stuning visuals of Shinkai's movie, which, let's be honest, carries the movie on it's shoulders. The story isn't that deep and emotional, and some plot points are poorly explained, especially in it's last third. The edition I have is the three-in-one published by JBC editora in Brazil (the country were I live). It's has a beautiful cover and a nice choice of paper. It's expensive,

It’s bland. It’s unseasoned, raw, mushy, oily, boring, take it back, thank you.
On tonight’s Manga Nightmares we have a manga adaptation of Your Name. I guess most of us can agree that the greatest part of the movie was the animation. Now who the hell though it would be a good idea to make it into a manga without hiring the greatest manga illustrator they could get their hands on? No, instead we get an artist that rings no bells (no offense to the artist, but that’s just how it is) who delivered an adaptation that only highlights how the plot of the movie wasn’t ... Your Name.
A movie that I decided to watch one night out of boredom and a lack of shows to watch. A movie that changed the way I percieved anime to this day. And a movie that I absolutely do not regret watching. But enough about the movie, how does the manga adaptation square up? // Story // 9/10 The manga follows the same story as the movie does, makes sense, it's an adaptation of the movie into the manga form. There are a few subtle additions in the manga that I find great, scenes that were cut from the movie or just added for the manga, I'm not really sure ... Nov 10, 2019
So to start, I haven't seen the movie, nor have I read the novel. This is just the 9 chapter manga version. So here's a totally honest review, from someone with 0 knowledge of this story beforehand...
Story: I gave it a 6. To be completely honest, this is where the whole thing falls apart. The start is good, I feel like this could go somewhere great, and unfortunately it doesn't. I won't get into specifics, but *SPOILER WARNING* you're left at the end of the manga like "wait, that's it?". This is one of those stories that might actually do better on film, then in ... Wow! where do I start! This is the first anime series outside of Dragonball that I have ever watched. Some of my friends invited me over to the cinemas to watch this movie and I could safely say I am not dissapointed in the slightest. Everything in this anime was close to perfection as humanly possible. From the music to the art, to the character development, it was all as cohenrently done as possible. Every scene in this anime could be and should be a wallpaper. The music that is played throughout the movie matches the theme of the scenes and sets the mood of
