I watched this crap with my friends in an event we have called "Chernocall", and this anime, along with some others, shows why the name of our calls references the Chernobyl incident. It's so terribly bad that can be radioactive. I'm not joking! The mess starts with it's story, which should be, in my conception, the core of someone's enjoyment in a narrative work. If you don't have a at least decent story, you don't have a good product, not mattering if the animation or sound design are stuning. And this story is completely poor. It's a nice manga, and that's all. It has the same simple but effective story written by Shinkai for the movie, with practically no additional moments. And the art of Ranmaru Kotone is pretty nice, but nothing compared with the stuning visuals of Shinkai's movie, which, let's be honest, carries the movie on it's shoulders. The story isn't that deep and emotional, and some plot points are poorly explained, especially in it's last third.
