The Shogakukan Manga Award (小学館漫画賞, Shōgakukan Mangashō) is one of Japan's major manga awards, sponsored by Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers. Each winning work will be honored with a bronze statuette and a prize of 1 million yen (about US$9,000). Special awards are also occasionally given out for outstanding work, lifetime achievement, and so forth. When some people hear the phrase "shoujo manga", the first image that comes to their mind is high school romance with cookie-cutter characters and the same melodrama recycled over and over again. Frequently they say to me, "I don't like shoujo"—as if an entire demographic of manga magazines that have been publishing for decades are only capable of writing one type of story. Worldbuilding - "the process of constructing a world, originally an imaginary one, sometimes associated with a fictional universe." These kinds of manga are usually set in a fantasy and/or sci-fi world, and excel at establishing & showcasing the rules/history/economy of their fictional universe. List was created through collective data from multiple websites of people's answers as to what manga are considered to have great world building. Forbidden love manga featuring couples from opposing/enemy factions. Must Haves: Must Haves: All of these are Shoujo, there isn’t a single shounen piece in here. These can vary from fantasy Shoujo to action Shoujo. They are not all romantic in nature. None of these are one-shots either, though some are more short than others. Please enjoy these and I hope you find some interesting things in here. I’ve read all of these and loved them so I’d be honored if you’d do the same. I'm trying to make a comprehensive list of all Manga and Manhwa that was translated into Swedish. In this part so have I listed the manga that never got a complete translation into Swedish. A collection of romantic tales set in periods of imperial dynasty (ie. Joseon Korea / Fedual Japan / Middle East Bronze-Iron Age). Where emperor’s ruled the land & power struggles for the crown were prominent. Shoujo and josei manga that have victorian/gothic or historical themes, aristocrats or other noble characters. Derived from AniFem's General Recommendations and Queer Representation Recommendations Series featuring main leads who start off as enemies &, over the course of the series, end up in a romantic relationship. Here are all the shoujo manga I think one should read in order to cover all bases. I organized this list by general theme, with publishing series at the bottom. Primarily compiled from my own list so I'm sure there's plenty I'm missing! Feel free to send me more :) this year I will try to read more shoujo/josei! and the queer manga I´ve been meaning to read for a long time :) |
