These two manga feature violent struggles for the throne with rightful heirs who have had their thrones stolen. A lot of detail is given about the antagonists. Both have psudo-historical Asian settings, with Joou no Hana set in a China-like country and Twelve Nights set in a Korea-like country. Both have a tense tone that carries over into the more lighthearted scenes.
