Which, by no means is a bad thing, but an element of manga that is not very commonly talked about it panelling. It's very easy to confuse composition and panelling, but hopefully this list will help you experience the true beauty of how important panel structure is to maintain consistent flow whilst reading! 𝗲𝗹‧𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 (𝑎𝑑𝑗.) /ˈɛldɹɪtʃ/ Of course, this list is subjective, but these are mangas that really stood out to me due to refreshing story elements, subject matter, or unique characters. I'm not asking for reccomendations. A manga interest stack featuring human-presenting female leads with non-human-presenting male leads. A selection of fantasy and supernatural manga that have a child (or child-like being) as part of the main cast. Includes some reincarnation / isekai. Psychological drama, occasionally known as dark drama or was related to psychodrama, is a sub-genre of drama that places emphasis on psychological elements. It often overlaps with other genres such as fantasy, black comedy, and science fiction, while the genre is closely related with the psychological horror and psychological thriller genres. Psychological dramas use these genres tropes to focus on the human condition and psychological effects, usually in a mature and serious tone. At least one main character is a monster, a demon, an alien, a robot, a lovecraftian entity, a thoroughly animalistic demon, a straight up anthro, or whatever else there might be; merely 'humanoid' at best. Mangas I think do a great job in making their unique worlds feel alive and lived in by other characters. The world/environment has it's own intriguing tales in a sense and influences the characters' opinions and later on choices somewhat. :D Ones that I think stand out among the rest and do something different. There are many supernatural mangas that I love, however, these are the ones that not only do I love, I consider them truly unique whether that be referring to the world setting, story concept, or characters. are you a sucker for monsters/demons/non-human creatures parenting and cute kids? did watching Pan's Labyrinth also permanently impact you taste in fiction? bl as in: published in a bl magazine or otherwise implied by the author (ergo; just because the mc is a queer guy does not mean the manga is bl) This is for your friends who only know manga through anime or only relate it to shonen and H, it’s not necessarily directed at a “manga beginner” but for someone who wants to understand it better as a medium. More than 1 volume, well drawn, easy to follow yet interesting visual and narratively. This is the original The Knuckleheads' Hall of Fame. These are so meticulously drawn that at multiple instances while reading I had to go back and read the dialogue again because I was too busy staring a hole into the art the first time around and to top it off every single one of them is extremely well written- they're all *good* stories in their own right. |
