Both stories feature main characters that are new to the game of Go and Shogi respectively as they grow bit by bit throughout the series. Go and Shogi are both very similar board games from Japan, so the concepts of both series are very alike.  

Tales of a "Hot blooded youth", Ballroom and Mononofu are both about young men who, not having a particular dream for the future, by chance stumble upon something they can actually put their all into. Both MCs step into a world where they know nothing about, but now have a desire to know everything their is to know and strive to be the greatest.
