i can't help but think about how safe is this manga.

like, seriously. there are so many disturbing series focuses on idol-fan relationships, they're mostly "picturing" how creepy fans are. you definitely heard of some tropes like "the dark side of industry", "obsessive fans killing their idols", "hard life of idols". okay. we get it. fans are weirdos. who can deny this? feeling sad for idols. right, right.

but you know? there are also good things about being a fan. for real. idols can change their fans' life, they can save them from depression, they can give a reason to live. same for idols too, ... their fans make their career brighter. if they have a bad day, seeing a devoted fan make them feel good and motivated. many people are unaware of these conditions, but these are not from an utopia. it's really happening in real life. on this story, rather than a "dark side" we see "hopeful side" of otaku culture.

i'm not trying to romanticize known facts. yes, most of the idol fans are terrible. yes, it's natural for idols to be uncomfortable with them. but at the end of the day, there are also some people who act like crazy just because they are happy. this is the only way for them. let the people be happy.

okay. i need to stop. about this manga, yes.

the idols are likeable, but not that special tho. their distinctive features are very predictable. despite this, it is very enjoyable to read them all together, their relationships and their reactions to situations. them being underground idols feels unreal to me because they're really attractive and they fit the definition of "idol" very well. we have a one lesbian couple too, which is good to see.

eripiyo is wonderful. the girl's energy is untouchable and she always make me laugh. hilariousss. other two are funny too, but eripiyo is another level. even we see some "calm" fans who just supporting their idols, she is clearly a creepy one. but if you're long time fan, you get her character. she is wonderful. trust me. her idol is admiring her too.

I will lead off with something: I am an H!P idol wota, 2D idols generally aren't my thing, but I really enjoy this series! The perspective from the main character being a wota herself reflects some of my own feelings and experiences. The pacing of the series is rather good and no jokes are too repetitive or fall flat. The storyline thus far is rather well done and the dynamics of the members of ChamJam are interesting. (Plus the music for the anime is nice!)

I would recommend this series to other wota. Though it can be really annoying when the translators don't use terms that ... are special to the idol-sphere. The official translation of the anime uses the word "stan" for example, this is a word K-Pop fans popularized, it is cringe.
