Okay, before we start:
Are there going to be spoilers?
- Yes, but it doesn't really matter.
Why am i making this review?
- Cause i want to and nobody makes one about it.
...
Why am i reading this?
- Because i love Splatoon.
And how is "i think" the Manga?
- Well...
Let's find out!
Story: 6
Splatoon has a pretty nice Story Mode and a nice DLC so is the Manga an Adaptation or does it try something different?
Well it's kinda both...
The Story feels mostly random and they just bring in things of the Videogame randomly when the writers feel like it. My Problem with the Story is that it's uninspired and so comedic.
I know it's for little Children but imagine if this would have been at least as serious as in the Videogame. Because i think it would have been awesome and would've gotten way more attention.
Art: 7
The Art is mostly actually really good. There's nothing really to say about it then that.
Characters: 2
The Story is not the best... executed...
but the characters are even worse.
Goggles: He's just annoying and dumb.
Knitcap: She's mostly as dumb as Goggles... but i think she's not as annoying, but maybe that is because the Manga mostly forgets about her.
Headphones: I actually think she's the best Character of the Manga. She gets here and there angry how dumb everyone else is and goes all Tsundere. But her Tsundere side isn't actually annoying. It's actually fun for me seeing her getting angry at them which makes me see that she's the smartest Person of the Group. In the first Volume it's already shown that she has the best Rank from all four. And there's even a bonus chapter in Volume 6 where her Character Motivation is explored. The bonus Chapter is only 6 pages long and it's my favorite Chapter because a Character is actually a little tiny bit explored.
Brillo: Brillo is basically the smart guy... but all he does is point out how dumb Goggles is. Which makes him seen like he's unimportant. He's the one who gets from the Main Characters the least amount of character exploration ( Or what you can at least could call a tiny hint at Character Exploration ).
Bonus Chapters: So this is something rather unimportant but i wanted to point out that the bonus chapters feel like they could fit into the main story... like the one with Headphones is one who would've not only fit better but would've made more sense if the scene would be shown while the main story rather than when the scene it was supposed to play in ( after the Tournament in Inkopolis Plaza ).
Enjoyment: My enjoyment was actually pretty high. But if the Story would take serious turn and the characters wouldn't be just plain stereotypes without emotions but actual "CHARACTERS" this could've been way better. The writers could have made something serious and still could've brought a message into it. But then again it's Splatoon and for kids... so who cares about that except me of course.
Overall: It's mediocre. You can read and enjoy it. But only because you enjoy something doesn't always mean it's good. For what it wants to be it's good... but then again i'm thinking about what could've been as great as the videogame.

This is a great manga!....if your a fan of the original game that is....
I feel like manga adaptations for video games have two jobs, the first one is too take the same energy or enjoyment from the game and put it into a manga format. The second one is to be able to enjoy the manga without having to play the original game. A perfect example of this is the Persona 5 manga by Hisato Murasaki. The splatoon manga does a great job with the first point, but I can’t say the same thing for the ... May 31, 2022
Let me be clear. This isn't a good manga by almost any means.
Story: It's pretty confusing with the characters just seeming to zip around doing whatever they feel like whenever they feel like and winning most battles purely off of being too stupid to function. They'll go through things in the game although very out of order and the manga does cross over to both games. Arcs often end in just a few chapters and can be hard to follow due to the frenetic pace. I will compliment the Emperor arc for having some nice character drama and dramatic tension (even if the motivations following said drama ... Jul 31, 2021
Before reading this review, please note that I've only read up to the first chapter of volume 2 of the manga. I would've dropped it after the first volume, but I stupidly bought the first three without knowing how bad this series is. I just picked them up because I'm a fan of the games, and I wish I didn't waste my money on it.
Story: 2/10. From what I can tell so far, there is barely any story in this manga. All it is is team blue having turf wars against various people who's names I don't care to remember because they're so forgettable, getting their ... |
