A tale chronicling the life of a fighter. Both series revolves around a main character who sets foot into a world where he meets adversaries who truly tests the limits of their abilities in fighting. They face struggles both physically and internally but is able to adapt. Throughout both series, they prove their worth as an underdog who slow climbs their way to the top and earns the respect of their rivals. Expect high doses of action inside the ring with intensity.

Both are WSJ series with a lot of charm featuring shorter than average but still talented main characters in sports that typically have larger participants.

Both short MCs Both overcome "broken/rundown" clubs and revitalize them Both moms (hospitalized/sick) apologize about the MCs height, wishing for them to be taller so they can succeed in their respective sport, but the MCs turn it around and use it as their strength.

Both Series are coming of age fighting stories where the fights are surreal fights and a road to become the best by training, while dealing with friendship, the pain of losing, and the spoils of winning...

zumou is essentially a shonen version of (seinen) shamo. while zumou is a lot less edgy, both have very visceral fight scenes, cool looking art, and similar subject matter, sumo and martial arts. shamo is a lot less of a sports anime but it does feel like a natural transition going from zumou to shamo

Both of these manga focus on an MC who isn't really built for the sport he wants to get into, and focuses on how they both overcome their respective challenges and gradually become surprisingly cracked at what they do

The main characters in both series aim to be the best, to achieve the highest rank in the ninja/sumo class and have friends that share that same goal. Highly motivated and determined, they learn new techniques and skills in their journey through hardship and training, which makes them stronger and one step closer in achieving their goal.

Despite following a different set of principles and sport, both series adapts a similar style with their story. The main male protagonist gets themselves involved in a competitive sports that tests the limits of their abilities. Throughout both series, they adapt and learn new techniques against powerful adversaries. And although they have different fundamentals with their sport, both series crafts a well rounded story that stays in line with their momentum.

Although they follow the premise of different sports, both series adapts a story about an underdog character who follows their dreams with a strong sense of determination. The main themes of both series involves an ambitious goal. And throughout their story, we see how much the main character improves. Both series has decent amount of action and mechanics that relates to their sport. In Buyuden, there is also sparks of romance that develops later on in the story.

Both series adapts martial arts although they take place in different time periods/settings. In essence, the main male character gets involved with other characters that challenges their skills to the limits. Rivalries are established while grudges are also built. There is a decent amount of violence in both series to also illustrate the reality of martial arts. Just be aware that Yukikaze's story also deals with themes of revenge while Hinmaru-Zumou is more of a sports competition.

Both male protagonists aim to become the best in there respective sport. They say looks are deceiving and the same can be said for both characters in these manga's, the two lead characters look weak but are very strong and gifted at what they do. Flaunt the fruits of your labor, another famous saying that shows the exposition of what the protagonists put into all their hours of training, which is brought to light in critical moments of the story.
