After awhile iseki gets boring and reverse harems also tend to get boring after the industry reuses the same ideas and the most one dimensional, pure- hearted, damsel in distress,  cutesy, plain girl. Like for realizes, that’s one of my biggest struggles when reading shoujo mangas is the female protagonist. Literally why I like these two manga series so much is cause they not only do something very interesting with the “a normal (or otaku) girl suddenly goes into a otome game/ fantasy world” but they make the female characters really unique and fun to read over the typical shoujo romance whatever female protagonist. They are quite similar but different in the same way:

I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags Is about a girl who has died and became the villain to a otome. She has a very charming personality and I’m so happy that she isn’t super dense and dumb. She’s able to create strong relationships with the characters and she has a very ingesting, outgoing personality and it helps that she has played this game once before so she knows what to say to the characters. We don’t go through the “Why didn’t you say this?” Or “ you could’ve done that” with this character which makes it extremely refreshing and satisfying to read and not only that she is really independent and is able to work hard by herself. 

Plus Alpha no Tachiichi is about  the protagonist And her classmate going into  into another fantasy universe which happens to have a reverse harem in it but the problem is that she is not the protagonist and her classmate is. Her classmate is the protagonist type, cute, pure hearted and all of that while Satoki is not really any of those. Normally when protagonist say they aren’t attractive they are reasonably attractive but in this  case Satoki is plain but she’s beautiful in her own way. She is actually the true protagonist and possesses  these powers but her friend thinks she possesses when she actually is mistaken. Honestly is really refreshing watching the “protagonist” from the side lines with Satoki and not only that Satoki as a character was interesting as well and was not the usual good willed protagonist. 

The main point I’m getting at is that boy of this series puts an interesting twist on the ieski reverse harem genre and have really good refreshing characters.

-People of the world assume protagonist is not the saintess as she is not as beautiful as the other girl
-The protagonist actually has saintess/holy maiden powers

Both protagonists like to watch from the sidelines referring to themselves as the side characters while others take the spot light, though they in fact hold their own valuable and unquie characteristics and abilities.
