Okay, here's my first time writing here.
Actually, I never knew that Kazuki Takahashi would continue some spin-off of Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga, so when I look that at my local bookstore "Oh fuck yes!". Here goes the review

Story: 8
The story involves about Tenma who'd want to avenge Pegasus loses. But before that he creates some cards for himself that could defeat "The Egyptian God" that names is "The Wicked God". (Kazuki Takahasi please, can you just go wrote story that defeat Yugi without inventing the new cards? I mean, fair duel). The emotion builds here was very good, and the duel rules was clever enough than original ... Yu-Gi-Oh! Manga. The duel getting close to TCG rules (I didn't say they're following perfectly, as I remember, there are some rules on R duel itself that explained in the manga) and I found this interesting.

Somehow the art wasn't drew by Kazuki-sensei itself, but it drew by Akira Itou. So somehow I feel uneasy about that. Oh, Anzu drawing got pretty nice boobs here :), so I give 7.

Character:7
Same as Yu-Gi-Oh!, But Yugi's character here somehow was reckless and easy to provoke by it's opponent.

You couldn't be give those scores before you read the last duel. It was amazing, pretty, and clever duel!

I really enjoy the original Yu-Gi-Oh and spinoffs made by the same team that made this one, but Yu-Gi-Oh! R is just disappointing. It made me not care at all what happens to characters that I already cared and read 300 chapters about!

This short manga bored me to no end - I had to force myself to finish it to write this review. Maybe that's just me, though. It does have its moments - I quite enjoyed the last volume, for example.

As far as the art goes, the monsters look great, but the character art is mostly average. The story doesn't have believable stakes and ... it isn't fleshed out, but most of all it doesn't feel like it belongs in the Yu-Gi-Oh universe; it can't make me believe it fits in near the end of the original Yu-Gi-Oh run the way it tries to.

Yu-Gi-Oh! R is a cesspool of wasted potential. It toys with some really interesting concepts, such as reincarnation attempts, Pegasus' legacy, and his unreleased cards, but it doesn't flesh out any of them to a far enough degree. The new character's designs are great, but the characters themselves are nothing to write home about. The new cards and plot threads disappointed me, as well.

If you have time to spare, feel free to read Yu-Gi-Oh! R; it's a fast paced story that's pretty good if you enjoy quick duels and aren't annoyed by comic relief. Don't expect the kind of story or character work of the original Yu-Gi-Oh manga, however. Maybe if you keep an open mind you'll enjoy it more than I did.
