These fantasy stories have mythical dragons coming to aide a fighter, swordsmen and battles. In each there is a vow from the past of a dragon coming to the aide of the nobles. The art in each story is good and sets the tone of the mythical fantasies well. They both have handsome heroes. A difference is that Yasashii Ryuu is a shounen-ai - while Akatsuki no Yona is a shoujo but I think that both are a treat to fans of fantasy art.  

Both of these works are fantasy stories with mild BL elements. Like its prequel, Tokaido HISAME -Kagerou- is lighter fare, but the story focus is expanded, making it a more worldly adventure like Yasashii Ryuu no Koroshikata. Both are good stories that contain self-appointed and not necessarily invited bodyguards.

Tokaido HISAME is a bit lighter and has more comedic moments. The story mostly revolves around the main characters and their immediate surroundings (and anyone who needs help within them).
