Josei means a comic published in a magazine targeted towards the mature female demographic in Japan.

Most of the shoujo manga made by men were created in the 50's, 60's and 70's. Back in those days it wasn't out of the ordinary. The father of manga himself, Osamu Tezuka, created many shoujo manga, including the famous Ribbon no Kishi (Princess Knight).

After the 70's, shoujo manga created by men became a very rare occurrence with the only ones remaining being horror mangaka like Junji Ito, Umezu Kazuo and Morohoshi Daijirou publishing in horror shoujo mangazines.

On the other hand, shounen manga created by women became a common occurrence, kick-started by the influential Rumiko Takahashi beginning with Urusei Yatsura in 1978.

This series of interest stacks is a list of mangas & light novels that have been or are being licensed and published in Argentina. This DOES NOT include imported physicals originally released in other territories, only manga licensed for the Argentine market. Novels, Manhwa and Manhua are included, however, manga-style non-asian releases are not mentioned here. Any manga missing on MAL will be noted in each stack's description, or in particular entries related to them.

The manga are in alphabetical order according to the title they were published under in Argentina, and not according to their original title. Each modified title is noted under each manga. Most of these can be bought online, although there are discontinued manga which can no longer be found unless bought second-hand.

These interest stacks will be updated (semi-)regularly and should always be considered to be incomplete. Please, message me if there's any entry missing, and/or if any info is wrong or missing. I made this list because I'm tired of people generalizing shoujo and saying it's all romance, so here are some shoujo manga from varius genres (horror, psychological, action, drama, etc.) that are violent and dark! Check the trigger warnings for some of these.
