Synopsis

At the dawn of the 17th century, at the end of the era of civil wars, in a world of chaos, the epic Battle of Sekigahara was joined. One man emerged from the largest battle ever fought on Japanese soil; a terrible warrior of unspeakable power, he was nicknamed 'the unconquerable.'

Kyoshiro is a peaceful medicine peddler who harbors the soul of an assassin. He accompanies a young bounty hunter across Japan in search of a murderer and on a quest to discover the terrible secret of his own identity.

Tokyopop published the first 34 volumes of Samurai Deeper Kyou in English from June 10, 2003 to April 7, 2009. The remaining volumes were published in two-in-one omnibuses by Del Rey from December 15, 2009 to June 22, 2010.

I'll start by saying that this may be one of the most underappreciated mangas of all time. A big factor in this is the bad anime adaption, but the manga itself is truly great. If it ever gets a new anime adaption this series could blow up.

i found this in 2025 at a thrift shop for 50c and reading the reviews a lot of people thought the same thing about it being similar to bleach and naruto. going to prob binge read it in one night (tonight) so THANK YOU thrift shop!!!!!!!

so far i believe the story isn't really unique but it caught my eye and i laughed multiple times reading so it doesn't really matter tbh. i like the art style!!!! very nostalgic imo and kyoshiro is just like me fr

my ideas may feel out of place but bear with me


I'll get to the point, the author tried to copy naruto(ninjas) with samurais, the only difference was that the mc was a little different as he didn't talk much, but the side characters did the talk for him such as he did this and that act for this reason ...

Each fight was in the following loop
- mc or one of his friends meet a really tough opponent
- they got beaten up badly
- a flashback is brought in were our fighter need to protect the mc and his friends
