Same author/artist and a similar grittiness. Very 'human' characters that make mistakes and are far from perfect.

Have similar, alternate-reality historical fantasy settings, with a little sci-fi. Targeted toward a mature female audience. Lots of action, and violence. Monsters. Fantasy. Oh, and a gun-toting priest. Saiyuki has more comedy, Kagerou more tragedy.

- Both of these have exceptional character development; - all the main characters are extremely cool and likeable in their own ways; - both focus on the "adventures" of a tight group of characters, bound by some common goal; - both are serious and have quite dark moments (far more for saiyuuki though), both can be very humorous at times too; - the bromance is strong in both; - both have a very distinctive, unique are style (derived from Minekura- and Ono-sensei respective styles). Saiyuuki is far longer and Saraiya develops slower. Nonetheless both are pure brilliance and if you loved one, there's a high chance you will love the other  read more

I find Kilka's and Goku's histories and personalities to be very similar, (hyperactive, called "dog" or "monkey" and loyal to people who only meant to set them free). If you're a fan either character I think you'll like the other too.

Both are series that involve the adventures of a cadre of superhumans that go around their lands trying to help out with whatever situation. And both have great art, great humor, and great action set pieces. Also to mention a lot of the main antagonists in both series are pretty well fleshed characters and have their own struggles outside of fighting the protagonists!

Bullets and fists as the only way of negotiations. Main characters with shady past, far from being innocent , twisted by life so sometimes you'll think that in "villians" they deal with is more common sense and composure

The art is very, very similar, and both feature deep storylines that have been given some obvious thought. Stigma is much shorter than Saiyuki, though.

Less apocalyptic but more of a revamping and retelling of religious fables. There is a quest assigned the main character that drives the plot, meanwhile numerous side-adventures give you plenty of action and the characters time to shine. If you enjoyed the melding of religion and fiction in Valkyrie Profile, Saiyuki offers an identical genre.

Totally different, not to mention that I have the faintest feeling that they belong to dfferent genres and demographics; but the buddhist theme, the priest theme and the monkey guardian that strikingly resembles Son Goku, makes me think that these two are somehow similar.

a group of rebels forming a resistance against a larger force of evil that serves as the order for that society. both have the element of transforming good people into unnatural mutations to serve an inhumane cause
