Can fate be changed? What is your wish? Which side are you on? A chosen child amidst a celestial war, with the power to either save or destroy the world. A group (or two) of six/seven individuals, each with a special ability. Villains, allies and neutrals, everyone is led by stars and divine prophecies. Clamp-conceived classics about destiny, these 90's fantasy epics are a study on mythology with beautiful angsty boys, dead mothers and sisters, sorrowful love, striking gore and tragic outcomes - one in an ancient, otherworldly place, the other in a modern city setting.

another hit from CLAMP really dark, tragic with really sweet relationships and nice humor but be prepared for another sad sad sad ending! it's not as depressing as it sounds, better mention what it's about, subaru is a kind of exorcist living in tokyo with his twin sister hokuto and their friend seishiro but everyone's got a past full of dark secrets which will all eventually be revealed.

Both involve a fated child with an unusual gender and a special sword and the gathering of guardians. I find the art quite similar as well, especially the character designs.

I am really surprised that nobody has made this reccomendation, because these Mangas have really many things in common. - The Setting in both Mangas are in Heaven - Intrigue under gods and main characters that become innocently involved in all these - Even the ending is the same If you liked RG Veda then you will surely love Saiyuuki Gaiden. I recommend before reading Saiyuuki Gaiden to read the Sequel Saiyuuki. It will make the Story more heartwarming und the characters more lovable.

I higly recommend one another for people who search comics with a protagonists to love and care for. both stories involve a higher Will that someone is triyng to change. A great caracterisation of everyone involved in the story. in Kubera you have also more human that are involved in the plot, but as in RG veda you have suras and god's that have great power. RG veda story look like more short if compared to Kubera who is still going. RGveda is a manga and Kubera a webtoon so the way of reading will be a total different experience.

If you enjoy fantasy quest stories then these two are for you, especially if you prefer manga that has flown "under the radar." CLAMP may be as popular as can be, but most people have missed their debut fantasy title, RG Veda. Which, by the way, is totally worth checking out. Also, many people have played the Suikoden game series but how many have read the more than excellent manga. Here are two manga series I swear any fantasy fan would enjoy.

If you liked the fighting side to InuYasha, you might just like RG Veda. The story is very different but still shares some of the elements which made InuYasha epical.

Gods and warriors, stars and prophecies, love and betrayal. Chosen children, the allies protecting them and the evil ones who want them dead. A group of six/seven fighters in one epic adventure to fulfill wishes. Fantasy shoujo works by famed authors, serialized from early to mid 90's, featuring Asian mythology, dramatic effects (along with comedic bits) and a plethora of bishounen. RG Veda has more bloody action while Fushigi Yugi is focused on romance.

Fantasy worlds and magical adventures with Clamp's glorious 90's art style. Despite Rayearth being a less tragic and more fast-paced read than RG Veda, they share plentiful character similarities, some romantic subplots and the same type of comic relief. If old school, bishounen-filled shoujo manga involving bloody sword fights and drama are your thing, it's certain to enjoy both.

Both series are ultimately about the ideas of fate, destiny, and a life's path being preordained before birth, and struggling desperately to overcome this to decide one's own role and path in life.
