Servant x Service is a hilarious 4-koma manga that eventually finds a surprisingly sweet romantic comedy center.

The manga mostly focuses on three new civil service workers:

- Lucy, who is overly sensitive about her name, and is completely oblivious
- Hasabe, a genius slacker and a flirt
- Saya, who is very quiet and tends to attract talkative types to herself

Joining them is a part-timer with an acid tongue, a supervisor with zero self-confidence, his sister who has a massive brother complex, and a boss who is actually a shut-in that communicates through a stuffed animal.

It's a great cast, and there is a lot of humor just in ... watching them all interact with each other. It's pure silliness, and a lot of fun.

What's surprising, however, is that there is actual character development that happens amidst the zaniness. The characters mature and learn. They fall in love. They develop their relationships and change their opinions of each other in realistic ways. It's not overly dramatic or monumental; there aren't teary-eyed confessions of love in airports, or dramatic partings at train stations, or promises of eternal commitment at hospitals. But if you stick with it, there are some surprisingly sweet moments of real people letting their emotions show through in real ways, and getting rewarded for it.

So if you like silly office humor or sweet romantic comedies, I strongly recommend you read Servant x Service.

I really don't know why there is only one review with this 4-koma manga (including my review, that makes it two *quick mafs*).

I really enjoyed the whole story of this series. It started as a comedy that later turned into a serious romance with co-workers. I really love the development of every character in the story most especially the "romantic subplot".

Lol. tbh, I really don't know what to say. I just really had fun.
The Story was Outstanding, The Art was cute as hell, The Characters are just so lovable, and my Enjoyment is on the MAX LEVEL.

So if you're looking for a ... Romantic-gag manga. This is for you.

One of the best Romantic 4-Koma Manga I have ever read with my life. :)

What I really like about this series is how even though it is a romantic comedy, it's not purely romantically focused. The characters are given room to breathe, grow, and interact in many ways outside of romance and it feels more natural for it. It's enjoyable to see the characters develop and while the individual strip gags don't always make me laugh out loud, that isn't to say they aren't humorous.

My one criticism would be the art. It's alright but characters tend to have similar faces and there isn't much background art. The anime fleshes out the appearances quite well, which makes me wish for ... some of that in the manga. It's not a big issue though and I think the writing makes up for it.

Overall, if you enjoy good character writing, comedies, or romantic comedies, give this one a go.

"Servant x Service" was a rough to start with. The story had no aim at the beginning, the characters only existed and interacted, gaining nothing. You may get stuck for a while until we finally get that glimmer of romance, and so needed change in direction. When the gears start turning, it speeds up all the way to the end.

Story 6/10
A good romance is always enjoyable when the story allows it to be. Sometimes, we don't need a mature plot about love triangles, or infidelity to deliver a good story about workplace romance. We only need characters which personal problems affect the drive to move ... forward in aspects of themselves. People gossip, they intrude and look for reasons to be involved, but that's about it. The only thing uniting this group of people is the fact that they work in the same place. Sharing this small space creates relationships, dumb misunderstandings; it brings the best and worse of people, including how real they can be when stuck with each other. It feels natural for this kind of story to happen, and the people inside that story to exist, but it isn't anything that complicated, or entertaining, since it flip-flops around the same thing constantly. Yes, it's all in the vein of the ending, but it can certainly be shorter, more concise, and reach the same beats. Good, but certainly elongated.

Characters 8/10
If anything, the characters are no doubt the best part of this manga. Not quirky, not overblown, just people that have problems with daily occurrences. Working in a simple, even boring job, allows this people to have a life outside, their own boring reflections of how they exist. It felt intimate to watch how the cast met their families, friends, their hobbies, without it being a point of focus. It isn't deep at any level, just that the casual idea that they're real feels all the more compelling. Just the bunny is extremely annoying, the other ones are pretty funny and bounce from each other perfectly well.

Art 4/10
It works, but I couldn't have finished if it was longer, with this art style. Repetitive expressions, faces, jokes, with the art, it got old quick. The manga isn't trying to be artful in any way, it's just that I needed something more from my eyes, rather than just speech bubbles around a character saying the same thing without a visual difference from the last panels. The only time it works is when it repeats panels to instill a sense of awkward silence or buildup to a joke.

Overall 6/10
A good palate cleanser for when you have nothing else to read. I wouldn't put priority into reading a casual romance story which conflict stems from lack of confidence. Don't look for dept, just enjoy the fact that you're looking into the lives of a bunch of people that can only be described as slightly weird or dumb, but the good kind.
