The premise of both series and their story structures are alike. Both are romance comedies that are profoundly light-hearted in nature.

Love evolution-discovery with lots of sincerity

Both manga are light-hearted romantic comedies. They both focus on the happiness in the relationship rather than drama and jealousy. In both manga, one of the protagonists is a bit strange and eccentric. In Love Roma its Hoshino and in Choku! its Serika.

Both have the romantic comedy based around an early established couple and what they do together.

Both stories starts out unusually compared to typical romance manga. This isn't a stories where the end is the start of relationship, but rather it is a story about the relationship...

Two comic, slice-of-life romance stories about fairly odd-ball high school kids falling in love and trying to make their relationships work. Hajimete Datteba is much more ecchi, but otherwise if you like one, you'll very likely like the other.

both of the series main similarity is the focus on the main couple about how they develop their relationship by trying to understand each other.

I just realized theres some similarity with the dynamic of the main couple, the male lead is also very honest and straightforward. Love Roma ends up leaning more into the 'Manzai Couple' as their comedy but it being shorter means it focus only with the main couple and developing their relationship as a couple while Ponkotsu have rooms to fleshed out their side characters and their own ships.

With the romance aside, everything else seems to be highly same. Both take place in a school, hilarity often (if not always) ensues when the characters interact with one another and tinge of life lessons appear here and there. Both are a definite must-read for those who want to enjoy a hearty laugh while still retaining a sense of bitter yet sweet nostalgia of happy bygone days.

Similar couple dynamics featuring an overly honest protagonist who doesn't hesitate to say what's on his mind. Both are fast-progressing romance and openly deal with having sex.

Both main characters are often brutally or awkwardly honest or blunt. Both main characters have a sort of manzai comedy pair with the girl, with the girl taking the role of the tsukkomi.

Both deal a lot with how to interact in a romantic relationship.

Both of these titles revolve around the adorable and innocent relationship of the protagonists.

In both of these romance serialisations, the characters, context, and the relationship development are all handled in a very simple and light-hearted manner.

Although the plots aren't very much like each other (AD is not romantic), I think these 2 series are quite similar in tone, as both show tiny little developments in the characters each chapter. They're also both very heartwarming in their own way without being sickly sweet.

Both series centre around the slightly awkward but sweetly earnest relationship that unfolds between two students over the time they spend in high school together, and is made up of unconventional discussions about the relationship as much as it is actually doing anything about it. Kare Kano explores the depths of angst and dramatics the situation allows whereas Love Roma's a lot milder about everything, but they both have a very similar feel in the way the main couple interacts and how their relationship unfolds.

The dry humor is just one aspect of the funny, awkward relationships in both manga series.

Both series are quirky love comedies about couples that often act more like manzai comedy duos -- and who doesn't like manzai?

Light-hearted romantic titles that are sure to give you a laugh or two.
