I was surprised to find out that there have been no reviews so far for this series.
For people who just want to know if it's worth a read?
Short answer: Yes.
However, if you want to know why it's worth a read, read further!
--STORY--
The story is about a group of people who enlisted in the army due to mandatory service. However, they are not assigned to a platoon, but to a mountain. The storry follows the main protagonist 21-year-old Ryu Yeon-seong and his teammates as they battle the mountain, and to save as many lives as they can. This manwha is about teamwork, the determination to go
...
through at all cost, and the philopsophy when climbing mountains.
The story isn't overly complex, not does it try to be. It delves into the human psyche, and shows what could go wrong when you go mountain climbing.
However, the story does suffer a bit of the manwha-syndrome. And when I say the manwha-syndrome I mean to make the main character a prodigy. HOWEVER, this is only a minor nitpick. Because while it may look he is a badass in every single way, they explain his actions and inner doubts while working in a mountain rescue team.
--Art--
Now, for those who aren't familliar with a webtoon manwha, it's completely in color, and some of the manwha's suffer from this, due to the overly used effects, which backfires the quality. However, the art in this series is great, it greatly captures the feeling of a mountain, it also handles motion really well. For example, when there's a snow storm in this manwha, it really captures the strong winds which would envelop the mountain.
Character designs are also good, they have distinctive features, and I for one really like the realistic touch upon the faces. They properly look like asians for once.
--Characters--
Characters are good. There's good character development here and there, and altough Ryu Yeon-seong is often the main point of interest, side characters get their time to shine too. The characters altough now feel a bit flat on some sides, but the flow is going towards more development for the side characters, which is good. However, there's not much to reveal about the main characters past yet.
All in all the characters are good, good to decent character development.
--Enjoyment--
I enjoyed it immensily. The story keeps you hooked with cliffhangers ( pun intended), which cause you to keep reading for hours on. If you like other climbing manga's, you would certainly enjoy this as well. It has a realism tone, and it's something fresh, mountain manga/manwha's are quite few these days.
--Overall--
Great Manwha so far, has great art, characters and keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I really wish more people would read this.
I give this manwha a 9 so far.
