Warning, slight spoilers
The best thing about the book is the characters. Learning more about the history/background of the Incubus (Rei) and how he relates to Fujimaru's grandfather and why he feeds on men. The story does centers more on the history of Rei than the development of the couple. The couple dynamic is very cliche. The whole main character (Fujimaru) is like "But I am not gay. I don't love Rei. I want to get rid of Rei!". But of course we know they are all lies.
The second volumes ends with the couple together and Fujimaru accepting Rei. But the story doesn't feel finished because
...
the plot following Rei's curse doesn't come to an end. The curse plot introduces another sex demon who wants revenge on Rei. So without a solution to this, the book series feels open ended.
The first volume was kinda cringe, due to Fujimaru's obsession with his younger bother. The side plot with Fujimaru and his younger brother in the second volume was cute.
Overall the sex scenes were pretty fun. Nothing too crazy, but also not vanilla.
