Both manga feature an immortal child who interferes in the lives of others. There is an unsettling feeling in both. The chapters are episodic, focusing on the child and a group of people in the "real world".

They have similar artwork, and both follows a girl who gets involved in the lives of others, often with some kind of sorrounding mystery. Uzumaki is more horror and contains creepier images than Orochi, though.

While Tomie features a supernatural, immortal-like girl who gets involved and causes misery to everyone, Orochi features a supernatural, immortal-like girl who accidently gets involved and tries to help people out of their situation using her powers. The art is almost identical, and the way the mangaka shows every story in an episodic nature is similar.

Both have a very dark feel to them. My name is Shingo follows the adventures of a robot in search of his "parents", and Orochi about a strange girl with supernatural powers who gets herself involved in the lives of others.

Both are entertaining horror series with strange and unusual art.
