A seminal effort in both themes and tone, it set the standard and paved the way for the gory, edgy stories popular today among the teenagers and young adults. You'd be surprised just how many of them trace their thematic lineage to the ol' Devilboi.   Not for the faint hearted. These are manga series that will put your physical and emotional endurance to test.   While it might look like you don't really need to know all of this, you never know when it will be useful: for instance with quizzes, random questions that you wouldn't know the answer to otherwise, fun facts to tell someone else, or if there's trouble or necessity of intervention in your vicinity.   These manga have a great way of telling a horror story.   Interesting and notable titles from Shueisha's seinen magazine line.   A varied list of horror manga for those who are just now getting into the genre, I will refrain from listing obvious authors such as Junji Itou, as I feel that is low hanging fruit and it would consume most of this list.   KonoSugoi is an annual magazine aimed at finding out which is the best manga with content published in the year of the survey. The choice is made by a panel of judges from the manga and publishing industry, and often reflects works with a lot of potential for anime adaptation.  In my opinion the ending either made be think less of the series or ruined it for me. For some it's just to a point in the series I didn't like it for a change that the author took. Battle manga, released after 2009, about some form of monster hunting organization with hierarchical structure (not necessarily military)   If you're an anime watcher you should read these manga.
