Its like Initial D, just 30 years later with modern cars

Both main characters start off as people not interested in cars HOWEVER, both main characters have insane drifting skills but don't realize it themselves. Eventually both main characters are pitted into a situation where they race another person and thus starts their love for drifting. Another thing is that the fathers of both the main characters taught them drifting. These manga are very similar and I highly recommend you read both of these if you are interested in drift/car culture. P.S. both main characters used the gutter run

Both get pulled into the racing scene by a coincidence and get absorbed in it. This manga isn't really focus on a single style of racing but it still a good comedy manga.

Both are series about cars for street racing. Initial D has a younger driver driving an old classic car while in Countach an middle aged ex-street driver gets his hands to a classic sports car (Countach). Both mangas share same type of feeling and for in my opinion also kinda same-school of style of drawing.

When looking for a giant sports manga that could replace Ippo's void in my heart, I've found Initial D. Both show the protagonist's journey and dedication, giving off the rush of improvement and competition.

Both consist of a young driver learning the basics of street racing and advancing their skills and knowledge, along with overcoming problems to do with cars/driving techniques and interacting with varying characters. Minor similarities would be that both main characters take up jobs relating to cars and both learn from a experienced older driver. If you liked one, you will like the other ^^

Both are Based on Street-Racing, But Initial D is based on Mountain Drifting and Wangan Midnight is Based on Motorway Street-Racing.

The protagonists of both series are highly skilled in the sport they compete in (more or less a prodigy) and both Takumi and Ryoma are similarly seen by their opponents as a person they'd least suspect to be an amazing racer or tennis player. The storyline both also follow the same formula with countless opponents constantly challenging the male lead.
