I always felt the main character (Haine) was like Tohru, optimistic, clumsy, lovable, loyal. She always appeared happy and warm to her friends but she was facing an internal conflict. With her opitimism she cheers the Student Council. She also was an average student, but worked hard at after school jobs, dense. In the story she helps a boy who also faces family problems (no spoilers) and she turned his unhappy, dark ways, and made him see the light and he protected her. In my opinion he wasn't really a part of the family, like Kyo who was not a part of the Soma family  read more

I'm actually shocked this isn't on the top of the reccomendation list for Kitchen Princess. The mangakas for Kitchen Princess is clearly quite heavily inspired by Arina Tanemura, particularly in her art-style. However I have an inkling that the creators of Kitchen Princess closely followed the storyline of Shinshi Doumei Cross. The plotlines for these two manga are very similar- A girl attends a particular high school in search of her long-lost prince who saved her in her childhood in one form or another. In both, her 'prince' comes from a wealthy family while she is orphaned. Brothers are involved in both, in both the girl is  read more

Plots are similar though do have there differences. I would say more about them though that would be giving away everything. Please just trust me. Note: Moe Kare is for an older audience.

Where to begin? These shoujo manga both have: - Adopted female leads, emotionless girls, white-haired people, bishounen aplenty (including one called Senri); - Elite school settings with class differences (Night Class/Day Class in VK, three different power levels in SDC); - The school's apparently perfect king, adored by the protagonist (Kaname, a pure blood, in VK, and Shizumasa/Takanari, the Emperor, in SDC); - Highly similar uniform designs (albeit in SDC they change later); - The word “Cross” - the school’s and protagonist’s name in VK, while in SDC the title itself.

Even though Saito's and Tanemura's style is very different, these works are similar mostly due to the feelings they give and the character interactions. The complex friendship of Ushio and Haine reminds me a lot of Anthy and Utena. Both manga are set at school, and have plenty of drama and romance. Utena is more mature in terms of sensuality, but SDC isn't immaculate either.

The best and most mature works of Arina Tanemura, with the usual drama-romance-comedy mix. Expect super pretty and shiny art, love triangles, tsundere boys, sweet and smutty kisses. Full Moon is overall better than SDC for its story and realism, but they are truly enjoyable and well-written, have a nice cast of characters, and some really touching chapters/scenes.

sakura hime kaden and shinshi doumei cross are very different but very alike at the same time. while sakura is a princess to be married at 14 haine is a a girl who was given instead of a 50 million yen debt. both are entertaing and twisting. since shishi doumei cross is the first one out, if you liked it you would definetly like sakura hime kaden. i promise.

Although story-wise is not the same and RS is more of the romance type, they both have the main character girl having two guys or more that like her and her best friend who later on in each story going out with the main character girl because she doesn't want to lose her best friend and/or having her best friend to hate her. If you read one story you'll know what I'm talking about in the other.

Both have female protagonists who lost people they love (her brother is dead in Dengeki Daisy and her dad sold her away in Shinshi Doumei Cross). Both girls have crushes on the people who are watching over them The people who are watching over them feel the same way and are hiding secrets from the girls. Funny and romantic

the story line is not similar but as the story progress I can say that these 2 mangas are alike in some ways such that the heroine wants to protect their love ones than themselves. You will trly love both..^^

they both have a girl who is very good at fighting and the guy has duties he has to do and there are alot of reasons they cant be together, or kinda just get in their way and it includes their parents too. But it is alot more romancy than tokyo crazy paradise. but i think youll like this one too.

The art in both of them is very pretty. Also they're both funny. They have twisting plots that aren't just you're regular little shoujo. For example, in shinshi the school they go to is rich and strict and there are a lot of family problems and such and you're always surprised what will happen next. In girl queen the school is kind of different and it focuses around queen candidates. Both the girls are great fighters and basically thy're both really good.Better than I make them sound, so just read them!

Lots of people I know who like one of these series, always likes the other. At first glance, Shugo Chara! and Shinshi Doumei Cross are really...not very similar at all. One is mahou shoujo, the other is without any fantasy at all. The ages of the characters are also, very different. But the Guardians and the Student Council are sort of similar. Both are filled with people with really fun personalities. In fact, one of the characters in each have a very similar secret~! It seems strange recommending this when the other seems so different. But really, from my experience, if you enjoy one, you'll likely enjoy  read more

Both series takes place at a school where there is romance, comedy, and drama going around. Both series has great artwork that reflects on a more gothic and more traditional way of defining its backgrounds as opposed to modern schools. Both series' main female protagonist has similar personalities while some of the male protagonists also has rich backgrounds, especially the main male protagonist.

In both mangas, a normal girl goes to a school of rich people and falls in love with one of them.
reportRecommended by i-animecat-99
Both series are about low ranking girls in rich kid schools who are pursuing/being pursued by a princely character. They are both surrounded by eccentric club members with interesting quirks, and the characters must try and figure out what they want to do with their lives and find their place. Both series also have reverse harem elements. However, The Gentlemen's Alliance Cross has more drama and romance than comedy, while Ouran starts off as an episodic comedy before going into the romance and family drama in the second half of the series.

Even though the plots are different, when I was reading this manga I immediately remembered Gentlemen's Alliance Cross. I love both and if you liked one you should like the other.

i'm surprised no one has put Gakuen Alice yet as a reccomendation. Shinshi Doumei Cross and Gakuen Alice has quite a lot of Similarities. They are both set in an Academy setting. They also have ranks, in Gakuen Alice it would be Stars but in Shinshi doumei cross they have like Golds, Silver, and Coppers. They both first look like a normal shoujo, but later on have their own plot twist. I Guess if i should make similar characters Haine=Mikan Shizumasa=Natsume  read more

Romantic shoujo manga that possess gorgeous art to die for. The highlights of both of SDC and SLH, aside from their eyegasmic detailed art, are their characters that have depth, substance, past, and well-described personalities. Takanari and Cain are quite similar. The setting is a school that isn't ordinary, as it has one-of-a-kind student council, hierarchy, and discrimination on statuses.

There was a hilarious reference to Glass Mask in chpt 4 of SDC, so I thought of recommending it. Both mangas do have never-ending drama, so much so that it can feel like you're watching a soap opera :3 Yet, the main female leads never give up in whatever they're doing. Both reads are quite enjoyable in their own ways, often silly but full of drama.

The two series are very similar being that both heroines are strong willed and stubborn. They fight against the odds. The two girls also look very similar. ^_^; The main male lead in both series are are also mysterious and are pushing themselves away from the heroine. Plus they're both at the top of the power pyramid. :P
reportRecommended by stickymochi
Both main characters are entering a school which highly recognizes standards (pedigree), and they are depreciated for this reason. There is also a bit of sibling rivalry in both plots.
reportRecommended by lassie
The female lead is disputed between two brothers... except that in Georgie they're her own step-brothers. Both very good series with a shiny art style and plenty of romance and drama.
reportRecommended by RenaPsychoKiller
Both stories involve a club that is the Student council. Otokamae is more layed back and has a school romance feel Shinshi is more dark and twisted
reportRecommended by Cainan
These two stories are also very different, but in both, heroines are very strong and the romance is beautiful, so if you like one, you'll probably like the other.

Both series feature girls who act cheerfully despipe having a difficult home life. The main guys are both Tsundere types, and each heroine has a well to do and pocessive best friend.

Shoujo manga that belong to the 'romantic school comedy' genre and share a highly similar art style and plot. Both Asami & Haine are transferred students who join a rather unique school and quickly fall in love with the most popular and important person. Also, crossdressing~
reportRecommended by RenaPsychoKiller
Special would mostly be similar with Shinshi Doumei Cross, since it also has the richness and the influential people in the story, and with the genre also of romance is also present...the outgoing personality also of the lead characters and all and the illustrations also are very good

shoujo mangas about pure hearted girls who become student council president but face animosity from their peers that they must over come. romance and love triangles of course.
reportRecommended by lujsy
the feel is very similar. both are about a girl who is suddenly placed in a different environment and can't seem to fit in. nonetheless, they win the affections of friends and love interests as they try their best. the character design is very similar, the protagonist is very pure hearted and innocent in both

Rozen Maiden and Shinshi Doumei Cross both have a fancy aura. They both involve a would-be lady helping a poor angsty shut-in.

i dont really know why but when i read penguin bro it always remindid me of shinshi doumei cross. i guess the strong willed main character haine and hane are kind of the same and the problems with the bro are kind of the same anyway they are both very good mangas i would sugest them to anyone!!!!!!!!
